"We usually stick to corporate type hotels when we visit area which we do every six weeks For a change we switched and we were pleasantly surprised. Lovely greeting from the young lady on duty and escorted to our room which was called Chestnut. The room was spotless and very quirky with creaky floors and on a bit of a slope which you expect from a building of this age. The beds was unbelievably comfy and we had a great night sleep. One slight problem was the ceiling height as I am 6ft 4ins which was the exact height for my head to touch it. There is water, tea and coffee and a TV and WiFi. We went down to the gardens and had a lovely drink in the sunshine. The drinks are varied and nicely chilled. The bar staff were very helpful. We skipped dinner as we had already eaten bit wished we had waited and tried the food as it looked very good from what we saw. We had a lovely peaceful sleep . The bathroom shower was powerful and water plentiful although the cold tap was very poor in the sink. Now I've had breakfast is hundreds of hotels and the produce used in the full English was top quality. The bacon and sausage was exceptional. The food was perfectly cooked. The place is great and I will be a frequent visitor. Thanks to all for a lovely friendly stay."

Excellent food, beautiful atmosphere, charming village… but the absolute best part of the experience was Charley! She’s definitely the best!

Super friendly place with very good food, well kept drink and comfortable rooms to stay. The mushroom soup starter was probably the best I’ve ever had and the Sunday roast was excellent too. Enjoyed sitting in the garden watching the Rugby World Cup. Slight shame that the bar closed at 8pm, with a group of us wanting to watch the evening game but other than that, faultless.

Three of us had lunch at this very cosy restaurant. The staff were very nice. One of us had the sea bass another had the Caesar salad. Both were satisfactory. However I had the sausages with mash and vegetables. The sausages were dry and the skin was hard as they had obviously been reheated several times in a microwave. The starters and desserts were also satisfactory but no wow factor. Average pub food.

Old tired public house accommodation. Large room en suite with over Bath shower. Good job my partner is taller than me as I would have had to climb up the bath to put the shower head in the cradle. Evening meal was great. Staff helpful and friendly. Breakfast good too but had to share the dining area with some extremely loud gentlemen about to go shooting which was uncomfortable. Parking outside is free when you check in

Gorgeous olde worlde Inn we stayed just the one night whilst visiting for an appointment in Henley on Thames. We had such a beautiful quirky room full of old charm character, a lovely spacious bathroom, lots of oak beams and antique furniture making it even more special. Highly recommend the Sunday roast, it was absolutely delicious and the service was friendly and helpful too. We'll definitely be back next time we're in the area.

Perfect Sunday lunch. For someone who didn 't want a roast the choice was amazing (I had the mussels with two chunks of beautiful bread) and others had the huge roast and a child 's roast. All perfectly sized meals and enjoyed by all. Even managed to squeeze in puddings. Sticky toffee pudding was one of the best I 've had and I also bake a lot so takes something special to impress me. Beautiful soft sponge and tasty sauce, rounded off with yummy ice cream. In the words of Arnie we 'll be back . Sorry no photos,we all diced in too fast!

Lovely setting but was not impressed with service. Ordered Ploughman's light lunch and Roast chicken Cesar salad. The Cesar salad had anchovy dressing but it did not mention on the menu that there were also anchovies in the salad. We waited 45mins for our food and when we complained they said the order hadn't been put thru by the staff. The Ploughman's salad was served on a metal plate that got very hot in the sunshine. Condiments like mayo, ketchup etc were in sealed individual single serving pots that were left outside in the sun under a umbrella.

If you don’t want people in your restaurant at a certain time. Then make that perfectly clear when they ring to book a table! I rang and booked for 6:30 a few weeks ahead. I rang and confirmed my booking. We arrived on time .Not a single mention of finishing early on a Sunday. No one asked me to bring my sitting forwards . We ordered and were told we couldn’t have pudding as the kitchen would be closed. A great start! not ! First rule of hospitality, You don’t tell someone who has come to spend money on a meal for 6 people that they can’t have something and yet again point out that the chef is going home

Arrived at this pub to meet friends for lunch, prior to a walk, it is in a beautiful English country village. Unbeknown to us, it was an important South African holiday, plus a South African World cup rugby match, so it was very busy. When we saw this, we thought we would be turned away as we did not book, but we were welcomed in. It was such a good experience, fantastic atmosphere, good pub food plus South African Braai specials. A table in the sunshine, we were very happy. But the real 5* review goes to the organisation and the amazing staff. So, So busy, but no waiting for drinks, food delivered quickly, very impressive. Wish we lived locally!
