"A large pub that sits by the River and gained fame as a backdrop to many a Morse episode. Initially had my doubts as the table assigned us seemed too high and chairs too low. Also the latter were incredibly heavy and hard to move. But we survived and the service was swift and polite. The King Prawn started was tasty if the prawns were a little less than kingly. But tasted terrific. I went for the fish and chips option for the main and it ticked all to right boxes. The meal was topped off by a mini desert with coffee that was enough after the previous courses. I had one glass a decent Chardonnay that was not over chilled and so one could taste the wine and not just the 'cold '. All that for two came to £73, which I thought very reasonable. Would be happy to go again."
