Booked for a Sunday Carvery for 12 and never had anything so disgusting. Food was cold, not cooked, they ran out of roast potatoes and had to wait 10 minutes for them to bring more out. Wont ever go there again!!!!!

Initially was a bit sceptical as walked into the bar full of rugby players. Check in was very friendly and taken to room. Spacious room with tea and coffee making facilities, very quiet location. Breakfast was in the bar area and lots to choose from. Would definitely recommend

I can only use one word to sum up the Sunday lunch: WOW. I would recommend the experience to everyone and challenge anyone to find any issue with the food. The atmosphere and staff are top-notch and very professional, while also maintaining old-fashioned values in interacting with customers. This establishment is a great business that has had a lot of hard work put into it to make it successful. It's a little gem - visit, enjoy, and spread the word.

Today 13/12/2023 was our Christmas Lunch for 17 ladies of a certain age. Pre-booked and pre-ordered lunch. It was truly delicious. The food was exceptional, tasty, flavoursome and hot. Served by very professional and friendly staff, including the general manager Mark, who was attentive on a day which had a full restaurant at lunchtime. Full credit must go to the chef and colleagues who did a marvellous job. We shall certainly be returning. Thank you to everyone at The Railway Inn

We recently had a family funeral to attend and had pre-ordered food for 13 people at the Railway Inn. Everyone arrived early and was greeted with tea and coffee by the attentive staff. The food was served promptly and was extremely tasty. All of us enjoyed our meals. After the funeral, we returned to the Inn for more coffee and were treated with kindness and respect. Booked a table on Wednesday 8th November for 2 people, booking was accepted and confirmed. Member of staff called me on Friday 10th November to ask if we wanted to cancel booking as they had a table of 15 and a table of 20 booked and as our booking was only for 2 we would be served after the larger bookings and told we would have to wait a long time for our food. We cancelled, as a booking for 2 is obviously not important to the railway inn management team, having been there several times with several friends and live local I will no longer give them my custom, so I hope the larger bookings will be returning customers as I and my friends will not. Very poor customer service!!!

I called in last minute for a spot of lunch after reading great reviews about the place. I'm pleased to say....IT DID NOT DISAPPOINT !!!! I have worked in the Food Industry for a number of years and therefore am quite critical when eating out. However, I can honestly say .... THE FOOD WAS STUNNING and couldn't be faulted in anyway. The food was RESTAURANT QUALITY and not just good pub grub !! Beautifully presented, good portions, cooked to perfection and full of flavour. Beautifully decorated for the Christmas season, the ambience of the pub was warm and welcoming, as were the staff. Now that I am living in Devon, I will definitely be eating at The Railway Inn again and RECOMMEND TO ALL !!!

I had a 1:00 pm pre-paid reservation for Christmas day lunch at The Railway Inn. The first course was served at 1:10, but then there was a long wait for our turkey. Despite speaking to multiple waiters and the bar lady over the next hour and a half, we didn't receive our turkey until 3:00 pm. By then, everyone else had finished their meals and some were leaving. We were offered complimentary drinks for the delay, but the waiter forgot to bring them until I reminded him. We also never received the last two courses we had paid for - mince pies and homemade fudge. I sent an email to complain, but received no response.
