"I had only been to the swan once before shortly after it opened and I really enjoyed the food so my other half, my mum and I went for my early birthday celebrations. It was uncomfortably hot in the restaurant and we were squished into a corner which didn't help. We all had crab claws to start with which were perfection but we only got 3 each, the portion was really small even for a starter would of liked double that. For main my partner and I had monkfish wrapped in pancetta with thai curry and rice and my mum had lobster. Again, tasted lovely but my partner and I agreed the portion size was small. My mum's was portioned fine, we ended up stealing some of her chips as she doesn't eat a lot haha. The desserts were not great, the white chocolate cheesecake my partner had was not a cheesecake, more like mouse. I got 3 slices of a chocolate brownie, the brownie was nice but where was the rest? We shared the jammie dodger blonde, I was looking forward to that most but it was really dry. There was nothing served with them i.e. cream or ice cream. I'll happily pay for good food but also value for money is important, for example the desserts were £7.50 each. I don't think any of us will be returning."

Excellent service, superb food, will definitely return. The fish and chips were cooked to perfection, can honestly say that they were the best I have ever had.

Lovely food really enjoying it until I found a really long hair in it the meal was taken away and when the waitress returned she told me it wasn’t a hair but a thread I don’t think so found another long red hair on the table won’t go again

Had an amazing lunch today, two of us had the skate which was cooked to perfection. Daughter had seabass and thoroughly enjoyed it. They were happy to amend an item of veg which she doesn't like. Also had cheesecake and a brownie for dessert

When you enter the Swan it hits you how clean and shiny the place is. The staff are welcoming friendly and helpful. The sea food we had was really fresh well cooked and fairly priced. The restaurant has a fishmongers at the front with a great selection of seafood. Enjoyed the whole experience. Visualizza piatti

We have been to this restaurant, and the wet fish shop, ever since it opened. It has had its ups and downs with staffing problems, but the food has always been first class. We went today, and sampled the expertise of the new young head chef. And what a wonderful lunch it was! Scallop starter that could not be bettered in a top London restaurant. Amazing skate main, and terrific moules. Also bought a load of fish for the freezer from the wonderful fish shop. What a successful trip! Thank you.

First time not the last here. A lovely, clean restaurant with tasteful decor. Fish chips were perfect. A light crispy batter chunky chips. Not at all greasy. A very generous portion. Two of our party requested plain grilled fish even though not on the menu, nothing was too much trouble. The chef came asked us if everything was OK with our meals (a sign of a good restaurant). Looking forward to returning trying the evening menu. On our way out three of our 5 party bought mussels, brown shrimp, prawns, cockles crayfish. Visualizza piatti

Just back from a superb lunch at the White Swan we had scallops along with moules for starters (herby focaccia bread as an accompaniment to the latter is a brilliant idea), then hake wrapped in pancetta, alongside skate wing with lemon and caper butter. Everything was fantastically fresh and well presented, our chosen wine (Gavi) went really well with it all, and the service, atmosphere and surroundings were very welcoming and enjoyable. Congrats to chef Tom and his team we had liked the look of the restaurant on driving past, and this first visit exceeded our expectations. The White Swan deserves every success.

Shame to write this as I’m sure the food is alright, but I went into the ‘takeaway’ part of the restaurant and received probably the worst customer service I have ever experienced by two older women who talked down to me (a teenage girl) when I asked what the best measurements would be for some crab meat I was after, but wouldn’t help me, and said things such as ‘ you should work it out for yourself’. When saying I came on behalf of my dad (a regular- therefore I wasn’t completely familiar with all the measurements conversions for what he wanted) they said ‘well tell him he should know better and make it clearer’ so I got very flustered and ended up paying way more than I needed too, which t...

"I would love for this review to be a 5 but unfortunately, I am unable to do that. Upon booking the table over a week before our visit I was told that the table would be ours for the evening because we were a large group. We were asked to pay a £10 deposit per person this was absolutely fine and we all paid well in advance. The table was booked for a hen/birthday party so we were all looking forward to a nice meal before heading out for the rest of the night. Unfortunately though, this didn’t happen. I had originally booked the table for 7:30pm, however on the day of the booking it was obvious to us that getting there for that time was going to be a struggle so I rang the restaurant and ask if it was okay for us to arrive for 8pm instead. The woman on the phone said this was absolutely fine and actually thanked me for letting them know well in advance. We all arrived just after 8pm (11 of us in total and were seated quickly. This is where everything began to go downhill… it was at least 10 20 minutes before our drinks order was taken and then a further 20 minutes before the waitress took our food order. A couple of people in our party ordered 2 4 1 cocktails and after waiting a further 20 minutes after everyone else’s drinks arrived the waitress came to tell us that they were waiting for the ingredients as the cocktails were coming from the bar next door. So by this time it’s about 9pm and the cocktails still haven’t arrived. So we asked the waitress where the drinks were and shortly after the cocktails arrived We did complain about this and was told that because of the long wait, the price of the cocktails would be taken off of the bill. I don’t think this would’ve happened though if we hadn’t made a fuss about how long it took. That was just the start… Finally after around 75 minutes of waiting, our starters finally arrive which tasted lovely. We then waited a further 30 minutes before we had to ask where our mains were and the waitress went to check. It’s now 10pm and we’ve been in the restaurant 2 hours! The waitress comes back and says it’ll be another 10 minutes. We all then collectively decided that we were going to leave it as we’d already missed another reservation we had and we were on a Hen Do! We were meant to be having dinner and going on a night out we’d had enough! A few minutes later, the waitress comes out and tells us (conveniently our food was ready; But by this time we were fed up and had decided to leave. Shortly after we told the waitress, “sorry, no thank you, we’re fed up” the owner(? comes out from the kitchen and demands we stay to eat the food. We apologise and explain that we’ve been waiting over two hours and we have decided we want to leave and as we had previously explained to the waitress that we had other plans for the evening. The woman then starts shouting at us and accusing us of being over an hour late to our reservation and demands the waitress gets the order receipt to prove herself right! When we said that this doesn’t prove anything because the waitress took ages to even take our order and that I had called to tell them we wanted to move our reservation to 8pm, she then says that we hadn’t paid our deposit and we couldn’t leave! She then was just arguing with different members of our party until we all just got up and left. We wasn’t rude to anyone and we just wanted a nice meal that wasn’t going to take an entire evening to arrive. They knew it was a hen party and that we were planning to be out afterwards and they just took the mick. Throughout the two hours there, we were polite and respectful the restaurant was so deadly quiet I don’t think anyone wanted to disturb anyone. The atmosphere was completely dead and felt awkward. So we all left the restaurant, hungry, disappointed and annoyed at the treatment we had received. It ruined the beginning of a night we had planned for 9 months and it’s just not okay. To be honest, if they had apologised and treated us differently, we probably would’ve stayed and enjoyed the food. If the restaurant cannot handle large bookings, they shouldn’t accept them. The Lek Thai lost a lot of money that night."
