"at the weekend for lunch, got a vegetable tart and fiancé a burger. both enjoyed eating! the chips are an interesting cut almost in a v-shape that gives extra surface for kratzer! very delicious. from their selection of sweet tasty we ordered a lemon meringue tea (very good) and a piece of treacle tea as I have never tried. no idea what I expected, but it was too sweet for me! if they have a big sweet tooth, though they like it and maybe with a bitter coffee to break the sweet one. it was also a bigger place than we had expected and seemed kind of dog from the number of dogs outside, which is always a plus! would like to hear some background music being played, but have noticed that is not usual in Britain"

"A group of us booked for Sunday lunch at the ship inn, yet another complete success, the staff as always so considerate and helpful, without being intrusive. The food excelled in expectation again, beautifully cooked and presented, nothing seemed too much for Rab the chef, who we send a very special thank you to, for creating a truly yummy and delightful Sunday lunch. "The hotel was great. Nice big room, and the bathroom was huge. Bed nice and comfy. The food was amazing. Had the chicken leek and bacon pie, and my partner had the trio of seafood. We had the sunday dinner. Plenty of roast beef and trimmings. The breakfast every morning was good. There are plenty of choices. The staff are brilliant and very helpful. Great place."

"Hotel is under new ownership. They are updating and it looks so much better than previous photos you may find on the internet. There’s still a ways to go. Beds are extremely “firm”. Individual rooms are decorated with lots of billowing dusty fabrics, and still need a lot of updating. You may be scalded while showering if another guest flushes the toilet or turns on the cold water anywhere in the building. The showers in general need to be addressed. Shower curtains were flimsy plastic that blow around while you shower and stick to you… which is not pleasant especially because they’re mildewed in places. The staff was extremely friendly. Sitting in the lounge and enjoying a drink from the bar was a highlight. The main area of the hotel is very nicely re-done, and staff treat you well. Would visit again as I met the owner and can tell he’s working to improve it."

"I ordered takeout last night and decided to try the salt and pepper chicken, noodles with vegetables, and a side of chips. It was my first time ordering from this place, and I'd heard some good reviews. However, the salt and pepper chicken ended up being chicken balls, which had a batter similar to KFC. They were okay, but not what I expected. The noodles were fantastic—really delicious! The chips had a few hard ones, but they were generally fine, so I won’t complain too much. I’d rate the chips a 4 out of 5. Overall, I’d give the meal a 4 out of 5. The staff member who served us was friendly and polite, and the wait for food wasn't too long. I would definitely come back, but I might try a different style of chicken next time. As for parking, there are some options available."
