The food is wonderful, with VERY generous portions, the staff are fantastic (Hannah, the manager, is an absolute star who went out of her way to help us, she is a gem of a human) and it's a wonderful, cosy place to spend an afternoon. We booked a table for lunch for a special family celebration. Have eaten here previously and have always been impressed with the food here, but today was an absolute disappointment. Starters were fine, but main meals and desserts were a let down. Food was very bland, vegetables had been warmed through in a microwave. Everything out of a packet/tin, nothing was homemade. Such a shame. Wouldn't recommend if you are looking for somewhere special.

My recent visit to The Walnut Tree in Aldington left me with mixed feelings. I was initially disappointed to learn that the restaurant was under new management and the Sunday roast no longer offered a choice of meats. Instead, the price was based on the number of courses. However, I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the roast, which consisted of two slices of gammon and a couple of slices of roast beef for those who chose that option. The roast potatoes and carrots were cooked to perfection, but the cheesy broccoli was a bit too hard for my liking.
