"I was travelling by the Great Western Arms, with my son, when our car was crippled by a puncture; we had to wait for the RAC and, subsequently, a tow truck and waited the the Pub car park for some time. Well before the pub officially opened, members of staff invited us inside so that we could keep warm. They provided coffee and orange juice free of charge and allowed us to sit in front of their fire. Once the pub was open we ordered food, but just as the food was ready, the tow truck arrived. The staffed kindly boxed up the food so we could take it with us. We both agreed that the food was lovely and nourishing. Before the tow truck arrived we also managed to order drinks; the selection was excellent. The pub is in an ideal location when travelling across the south midlands. We cannot thank the staff more for their kindness and consideration and happily recommend them, the food and the drinks available. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Quiet"

"our reunion was good. good food and service. we were over and our disappointment was the evening when we tried to get a sandwich and was told that they couldn't make sandwiches in the evening?! we had to find a pizza between us. if we had known before, we would have gone elsewhere. the breakfast was good, though the service was a little slow. there were only 1 satchet of brown sauce between about a dozen tables and similar just a few breakfast menus to share! not what we expected. I don't know if we're back."

"Went for lunch with my boyfriend and a friend, the overall experience wasn’t great. We were told someone would come to the table, ended up having to go in to order food. Waited a long time and when our mains came out, my friends burger was raw, my chips were supposed to be with truffle and Parmesan, I could not taste the Parmesan (more like a hard cheese substitute I’d say) nor the truffle and my jus tasted like I was having a glass of red wine, which I don’t like. We wanted to order dessert but were put off as after they cleared the table they brought the bill straight away. Was not impressed by the service or food, specially for the prices on the menu. As a chef myself, I highly recommend checking all the food before it gets sent out to avoid these type of situations. I don’t normally like to complain, but I don’t think that meal was acceptable. Would not recommend. The raw burger was taken out of the meal which I can appreciate, but no one ever came to check if everything was okay during the meal, or offered an alternative."

"Really disappointed with the trip advisors as much as the pub. This was our first time here so we were looking forward to it based on the recent reviews. I rang and tried to book a table for 6:00 to 6.30 and was encouraged to make it 6 as they were busy later. When we turned up we were the only people there for half an hour and then 2 other couples came in before we left at 7:25pm. We ordered the dough balls to start and the garlic butter was frozen. The menu of lots of different pies on offer from the previous tenants was still visible but not on offer. The menu was very limited unless you wanted pizza. I ordered the crown burger because the confit duck leg was unavailable. My partner ordered the chicken chasseur. The burger came out on the smallest plate I have ever seen a main course served on in a pub or restaurant and it was tiny. It was £16 and an extra £1 for the cheese and another £1.50 for the single slice of bacon. The portion of fries came in a mug size cup! The chicken chasseur sauce was see through and was extremely watery and wasn't right. It came with no veg and a similar size portion of chips to mine and that was it! £42.50 for one portion of dough balls and 2 mains. The most disappointing thing was the way that our complaint was dealt with by the manager and staff. Nothing not even an apology. We eat out every week and have only had to stop on the way home once before to get something more to eat. This was the second time!!"

"This was a special anniversary dinner, and despite hearing some mixed reviews from friends, we decided to give it a try. The ambiance and décor were impressive, but the service, food quality, and seating comfort left much to be desired. The bench seating was uncomfortably high compared to the table height, making it difficult to relax. While the appetizers were delicious, the main dishes were a disappointment. As a fan of authentic Thai cuisine, I was let down by the heavy, thick sauces that lacked the subtle flavors I was hoping for. My fish main dish was served as beef, drinks were forgotten, and the tables were too close together, making it hard to have a private conversation. The Fox restaurant has great potential with its lovely setting, friendly but overwhelmed staff, and reasonable prices. It's a shame they fell short of delivering on their promise."
