"Very disappointing visit to this pub, especially after reading the fabulous reviews. Went with a friend for an early tea. To start we had the bacon black pudding stack the garlic stilton mushrooms.....both not good, very thin sliced black pudding not a great sauce either, you couldn 't taste any Stilton in the mushrooms think they forgot to toast the ciabatta. For mains we chose pie of the day We were told they 'd only got 4 portions of the pie of the day left so we thought it must be good. How wrong were we, it was supposed to be steak kidney, but it was filled mainly with kidney a few pieces of steak, all of which were tough. We did eat it, but it was so chewy wasn 't nice. When the barman came to clear our plates we told him that the steak really needed longer cooking, a very rude reply back I don 't cook it, I 'll pass the message on, no apology, or I 'm sorry to hear that, basically he wasn 't bothered. So as my title says......go somewhere else"

Great pub lunch enjoyed by all of us. We went as a party of 3, along with our dog. Excellent food and service from Emma, and a cheeky cocktail! Will definitely return when we're in Southport again.

Visited as a family with one wheelchair user and a small dog. Booked a table for 6pm which was reserved for us. The owner went out of his way to ensure we had space for our wheelchair and gave us the disabled toilet key. Food... Visualizza piatti

Second time here this month and we really enjoyed our food again The salt n pepper chicken is delicious and I could literally live on that alone Emma is a fantastic barmaid and very attentive Best of all its dog friendly and our Timmy loves the dog menu

Had a Sunday dinner here. Pre-booked as requested and suggested but not compulsory. No long wait for food.Hot food and sizeable portion excellent price. Home made Yorkshire puds very tasty. Super dog friendly. Independent pub and unique feel.Would recommend,will visit again.

Popped into The Windmill last Friday evening with my partner to meet a few friends. We wasn't planning on staying long but the overall vibe, having the open mic and the people was so friendly. I also need to give you credit on your staff as we was looked after with a friendly smile all night by Mark (and i think her name was Katie). Came for tea for my mum’s birthday and wasn’t disappointed. Visited before for drinks but this was my first for food. The price of the food is extremely reasonable but certainly no reflection in the quality of the food. All meals were excellent. Very tasty and fresh. We had home made chicken and black pudding pie, chicken tikka masala and fish and chips. All delicious. The bar is well staffed and staff are pleasant and helpful. The place was very busy so that speaks for itself. Didn’t have to wait long for our food. Would definitely return again.

My wife and myself ate here for the duration of our five day stay in Southport.We started on Sunday with their Sunday lunch, wow what a meal. I had the roast beef and my wife had the chicken, both meals were faultless and very filling.Over the following four days we tried the beefburgers, the steaks. the pie and the chilli con carnie. Not one meal was disappointing, from the taste to the presentation and the portions. My only personal tiny complaint is the chips were a little to crispy for my taste. My wife thought that they were perfect. The beer was excellent and the staff were great very friendly.
