"The restaurant opened in December 2019 under new ownership and management, and I was very impressed with the high quality of fresh, homemade cooking using only British meat, fish, and vegetables from local suppliers. I have visited the restaurant twice and enjoyed all of the dishes. During my most recent visit, I tried the good value 3-course set lunch menu, which included Sticky BBQ Chicken wings with garlic herb mayo and crispy squid as starters, followed by fish and chips and pulled pork tacos with harissa mayo and burnt corn salsa. For dessert, I had the sticky toffee pudding and ice cream. The food was delicious, and it is great to come back during the day for snacks and drinks in the bar area. I plan to return to try the Sunday roast, but I will make sure to book in advance as the weekends can get busy."

Complete turnaround to what was here previously, great set up and laid out well. A big selling point is a completely GF menu and the food not only tastes great but is reasonably priced. Lovely staff, dinner here is going to be a regular occasion!

The pub food at this restaurant is of excellent quality, yet affordable. The dishes are super tasty and the service is amazing! The meal was very memorable and I would return in a heartbeat. Overall, it was an unforgettable dining experience that I highly recommend.

The restaurant has been under new management since Christmas 2019. The interior has been beautifully renovated, with a great selection of beers and spirits. The knowledgeable staff provide excellent service. The food is very good, especially the slow-cooked brisket roast and perfectly cooked chocolate fondant that I had for dessert. Disregard any reviews before December 2019, as they are referring to the previous establishment. This restaurant is a fantastic addition to this area of Christchurch.

we visited the smugglers run in christchurch for dinner last Friday. the original building is 200 years old and believed to have been part of the smuggling path (here the name) of the newly renovated extension area is much more in harmony with the pubs style. many cabins for groups that were shining in the warmer weather in the indoor and sitting area, we loved the Reggae Festival a few weeks ago with live music and bbq. we ate from the newly developed autumn menu and thoroughly enjoyed the terrine and deaf for appetizers and short ribs that fell from the bone (although quite rich) and our very yearly taste of venomous. we chose a vanilla crème Brûlée and ported planted all washed with a gla...
