"While teaching classes at DIT, the students recommended that I check out the Knödelwerferin it's where they took their parents when their parents came to town, they said. I didn't get around to checking out the Knödelwerferin while I was teaching at DIT, but...finally checked it out this Saturday while running errands in DEG with my partner. If you're looking for someplace with high-quality Bavarian food and friendly service, this is it. The food was great and ranged in price from about for salads or smaller dishes with a side salad to about for a steak with sides. My partner had grilled pork with mushrooms in cream sauce and spätzle. I had the cheese spätzle with a side salad (and stole a bite of pork). My partner is a picky eater and praised his food. The portions were huge neither of us could finish everything. I was also impressed that there were vegetarian options other than just cheese spätzle. Beer-wise, beer is from the Passauer Löwenbrauerei, Weltenburger, and Brandys Braugarage. That was OK with us, because the main breweries in Deggendorf county don't have the best reputation. Our server was friendly, checked in with us to see how the food was or if we needed anything, but wasn't pushy or in our faces. The down sides... the acoustics in the restaurant are terrible and the restaurant is generally loud. On top of that, the tables are really close together, so it's easy to hear your neighbors' conversations. There were really weird decorations for Karneval, including a life-size human (male) mannequin wearing a clown outfit and Bozo wig. It was also really difficult to get to the restrooms, including going down a few and then going up a lot of steep, narrow, slippery, twisting stairs. My partner is visually impaired and due to the difficulty of going up and down the stairs, opted to wait to use the restroom elsewhere. Also, the restaurant could have incorporated the Knödel theme more I saw spinach dumplings on the menu, but that's about it. (For English speakers and some German speakers who didn't seem to get it there's a legend in Deggendorf that the city was attacked by a Germanic tribe that surrounded the city walls and was just waiting for the locals to surrender by waiting until they ran out of food. Around the time they were starting to run out of food, a woman made dumplings out of leftovers and was going to take them to her husband, who was on watch, when she noticed some spies. She threw the dumplings at the spies, who then reported back that the people in Deggendorf still had so much food, they could afford to throw it at the spies! The tribe then retreated. There's a small statue dedicated to the woman on a side street about a block down from the restaurant"

We usual go here for Lunch when where in Deggendorf. The Service is amazing, the food is very delicious. They always have some special daily menu. This time I had a fish dish with a local fish and Salmon and a side of risotto. It...was sooo delicious. I love coming back there.

This restaurant is One of the best places in Deggendorf located in the City center. I highly recommend trying the local, Bavarian food. I had the day's speciality which was veal tongue in creamy sauce with rice pilaf and balsamic carrots. Delicious. You should also...try the local Kloster beer.

I had Italian gnocci with special mushrooms. Very good and the Bavarian beer was perfect, too. You can have a traditionell Bavarian meal and international (vegitarian as well). If the weather is fine sit outside. The manual is not big but the meals looks fresh...and the taste for me was fine. Service was very friendly.

We re-visted this restaurant on our annual trip to Bavaria. During spring and summer tables are set up outside the restaurant in the town square. This offers a unique dining experience, especially during market days when one can watch the hustle of bustle of the...farmers market a few feet away. Service and food quality are on a high level and I tried the fresh asparagus salad which was excellent.

After a stroll in early evening Deggendorf center found the cozy restaurant. Nice smiley welcome ensured I dropped in the right place. Was given immediately a table, and the service was very courteous, fast. Menu choice reflects the nice Bavarian Cuisine, accompanied by regional and...Austrian wines. Generous portions, very tasty meal, accompanied by a nice Gruener Veltliner wine. The bill won't disappoint you, a nice place to stop by anytime soon.

Well, after living for years in Munich, I'm still not a big fan of Bavarian food. But I learned to distinguish the good one from average This is a good one, for sure. I've ordered their venison, and was not disappointed. The Spätzle...dish was gigantic, we ordered it for our son, and couldn't finish the of us! The dialect they speak in Deggendorf is so Bavarian and fast, I could barely distinguish what they were saying, but all in all the service was friendly and fast. There are not many Bavarian restaurants in Deggendorf and this establishment seems to be quite popular both with the tourists and the locals. Also, the building itself is quite old and worth of visiting.

I went with my couple to have lunch to the restaurant. As it was sunny we decided to stay in the terrace. Once our meals were delivered and after eating a little bit I realize that my dish needed more salt. I asked for it...to a waiter and there was a completely acceptable misunderstanding between Saltz and zahlen Once this was solve I kept waiting for the salt. I saw how my dish was getting colder and colder and after few minutes I decided to go inside and ask for it again. At that point it was clear I was getting disappointed .
