"Brothers Jens and Kim Rahbek and Thor Andersen founded sticks n Sushi over 18 years ago. With a menu consisting of fresh sushi and grilled yakitori sticks, Sticks n Sushi has been well received in Denmark, where there is 10 restaurants. Now with their eyes set on London, Covent Garden and Wimbledon were the first locations and they have recently opened in Greenwich with one in Canary Wharf on the way. As I live in Greenwich, it seemed only fair for me to get my chopsticks skills on and try the place out. You can order your sushi and sticks as separate dishes or choose from one of the 14 set menus. We chose the Monte Carlos option, which is a large menu and you definitely won’t be leaving hungry. Edamame beans tossed in soy, ginger and garlic were a welcome starting dish and a nice difference to the normal beans with rock salt. Crunchy ebi bites with chilli and miso aioli were absolutely delicious. Beautiful looking beef tataki with smoked cheese, almonds chives and yuzu-kosho made for intense and delightful mouthful. Ebi panko roll topped with avocado and spicy sauce with the crispy tempura prawn was one of my favourites of the meal. The shake aioli roll consisting of peas, avocado, cucumber, miso-aioli topped with seared salmon and trout roe was a pretty bite-size piece of food, tasting as good as it looked. Seared salmon, yellow tail and tuna nigiri along with salmon, tuna and sea bass sashimi were all extremely fresh and had a better tasting quality to them compared to other sushi places I’ve dined at. The yakitori sticks included asparagus wrapped in bacon, black cod marinated with miso and lamb chops with miso herb butter. The best out of these was the black cod, delicate pieces of fish with saltiness added through miso. The lamb tasted nice, but was a little bit chewy. The asparagus was fresh and cooked well, but unfortunately I couldn’t get any flavour from the bacon. Dessert was a box of four petite ones called ‘dark’. The first was a black sesame ice cream, which I wasn’t overly keen on, but that is just my preference. The orange bergamot orange crème brulee was silky with a good caramelised top. Marcel chocolate cake with crystallised white chocolate was a tasty spoonful, and reminded me a bit of thick mousse or even truffle. My favourite of the four was the dark fondant with chocolate caramel and hazelnut brittle. If you like a gooey, sweet and rich dessert then this is for you. The service received was good and our waiter was knowledgeable of the wine. When our set menu was served the waiter also went through each item listing what each was and what they consisted of. Every now and then the staff randomly shout out Japanese words/phrases, so if you’re a little jumpy, beware…. But, hey, at least you’ll have a heart attack scoffing some good sushi."

"We had a mixed visit this time. Myself and my daughter come here when we can. We had two slight negative situations happen. I get them out the way first. I have a fish allergy, so as always the manager came to take my order however another staff member had taken my daughters order. We both ordered the same Chicken gyoza and ginger +chicken udon noodles. My daughter 's food came first and my came a bit later. (This is normal practice especially as the chef has to clean everything to cook my food! As my daughter started to eat she noticed her Udon meal had a shrimp in it. (There are 2 Udon noodle meals on the menu, one with chicken and shrimp the other with just chicken The manager came over and took the meal away and got the chef to cook another Udon meal. Not the best, however the situation was handled well by the manager. The second negative was more of a technical one. When you get seated you get told your table number and shown a QR code which takes you to an app to pay.So to you don 't have to wait to catch a staff member. At the end, I went to pay and entered my table No but someone 's else 's food order came up. I tried a couple of times but in the end we had to get a staff member so we could pay. No idea what happened there! Now the positives. Waga:s is our favourite Dad+daughter day out. We love the food and love the O2 venu. The food (when it 's right is the best and comes freshly cooked. The Gyoza 's are our go to 'starter ' with the Udon noodle Ginger chicken as a main. It didn 't disappoint this time. So fresh and piping hot. The female manager (sorry, didn 't catch your name was a delight and extremely polite. Even when I started waffling on about my fish allergy the female manager was polite and attentive. The other members of staff who served us were also polite. All in all a good lunch even with the slight hiccups. The four stars is because of the order mix up!"
