"We came here regularly because it's the best indian restaurant we have ever been to. They offer the best indian food we have ever known. The service and the ambiente is fantastic! It is so sad that we had to leave Heidelberg and go back to our ordinary lives...I can only recommend this restaurant. Our favourite menu is a mixed entrée, chicken tikka masala and gulab jaman for desert, but chicken korma and chicken tikka (tandoori oven) also taste very very nice and are well worth a try!You shouldn't miss this opportunity for a wonderful and romantic dinner. "Lunch was included at this restaurant as part of the Viking River Cruise Cities of Lights on The Idun. The restaurant and staff were prepared in advance but unfortunately all of the tour groups arrived at this place at the same time and it became very busy. Lunch was a set menu which included wine, soft drinks, and local pilsner beer. Salad was fresh and crisp but the dressing was a little bland. The main course was a chicken breast in gravy with spätzle and reheated mixed frozen vegetables. Dessert was also included as was bread and butter. Service was decent even with the large size of the group that showed up. This would be a restaurant that I would revisit on my own when not as busy."

"in a city with a high tourist attraction, it was pleasing to find in an old, well-preserved building a restaurant with a genuine German atmosphere and a menu with hearty German foods in generous portions. the beer of the barrel is good (adler) and our two feed more than enough in size and taste. the restaurant is cozy with separated areas for the guests; in contrast to many English pubs, whose interiors have been drained for profit reasons. the service was satisfactory but not fast. highly recommended."

"because of the good reviews here we decided to eat spontaneously in the north star to the evening. unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. in advance, the service is great and very friendly. Unfortunately, the gyros ordered was really a shock, totally dry, slightly rancid and fibrous brutzelt (old? warmed up? ). Maybe we just had a bad luck and the kitchen was a fuzzy!? Anyway, the reaction to the complaint was friendly and there was a replacement offered. the beautiful evening was still somehow there...."

"A fantastic place with great food and great service absolute recommendation! I was in the Golden Anchor for the second time and didn't regret it. The reception and service of one of the tenants' most personal Mario? and his employee leaves hardly any desires open as you notice the long-term experience and high demand. All that leaves the kitchen is an absolute pleasure for the palate. Each of the tapas variations /antipasti is really excellent, great cost and in itself absolutely harmonious. The Aioli must be ordered! Although very fishy and fleshy, vegetarians also come to your expense due to the numerous alternatives. The homemade mushroom gnocchi look absolutely perfect. The rest can be found in the pictures. The place is relatively small, but very cozy. Changing the art that can also be bought tastes the walls. The music selection is perhaps somewhat questionable, but at least above all:D cleanliness is top and Corona rules are adhered to. In the entrance area there are disinfectants for guests. "Hervorragendes Essen von d. Vorspeise bis zum Dessert! Bodenständige deutsche Küche mit saisonalen Gerichten zusätzlich zur Standardkarte. Service sehr freundlich, aber teilweise überlastet. Dekoration/Ambiente teilweise modern und teilweise aus den 50ern. Ich kann mir vorstellen, dass die völlig verkleideten Heizkörper unter den einfach verglasten Fenstern zu hohen Heizkosten führen und den Gastraum schwierig beheizbar machen da gibt's dringenden Optimierungsbedarf."

"Great traditional restaurant with tasty German cuisine and ECHTEM Service! We were here for three on Saturday night. Book it! The restaurant is very nice and tastefully decorated, relatively dark/satisfactory and very clean. The atmosphere is very cozy and creates a pleasant feeling. We were guided to the table by a very nice, competent, young men and then served great by mainly a young very friendly service. It was asked several times if everything would fit and whether the food would taste. Occasionally smalltalk existed above although very busy operation prevailed. The beer is excellent and is served from 0.5L in the Steinkrug. The food was relatively fast and was just as impeccable, very tasty! As a dessert there were Kaiserschmarn, who was not suitable for original Austrian but nevertheless good. Thanks for a nice evening and the WIRKLICH great service, which has unfortunately become rarity nowadays. Absolute recommendation!"

"Sahara is my favorite restaurant in Heidelberg-Altstadt. The staff is very friendly and responds to the wishes of the guest. "good food, kitchen easily overwhelmed, two plates ordered to eat, almost identical plates come with food. it was a lot, it was fat. on extra requests could be received. that. rindersteak was tough as leather, the rest was ok. operation very friendly, that was top. about the ambiente, the toilets, here you should not lose a word. simply underground. for years, it's not done, or the deceased hasn't sanctified anything. the pächter did nothing. at least in the cabin of the herrentoilette is worth a look up. should it look the same in the restaurant kitchen, good night. "I went there with my family on a week day evening. Food is very average and highly priced. I do not recommend this restaurant. Beer selection was terrible beers on tab and some bottled beer. No Italian beer. Bread served was cold and...stale. Definitely not freshly made or self made. Main dish portion was quite small. We had swordfish. We received small pieces of fish, a few grilled vegetables and small salad. it costed euro. Beer and pizza prices were normal. Garden sitting was ok. Sitting was not very comfortable. Metal chairs and big very average looking tables. Parking limited"

"the local is not big, reminds a bit of a ski hut!We love cordon bleu with spinat and mountain cheese, or the wonderful different dumplings, whether speck- semmel- or cheese dumplings, with different salads from the new home field. the portions are huge, you can still take home. we then have still filled and a portion of imperial, tasty karamellized, erased with each other. the wine, good choice, from the pfalz, is favorable. we like to come again and again, again and again!."

"Perhaps it is our fault to expect authentic Chinese in a small city in Germany, but we visited them because we saw a large group of Chinese eating there and it looked like a family-run (naturally Chinese) guided restaurant. my wife, however, ordered some vegetarian dishes and was quite disappointed by the boring taste. the menu / dishes are prepared according to the local German taste and therefore little seasoned. there are some other Asian restaurants nearby (Korean beside and thai on the other side of the square),) I would recommend that they try these if they are looking for Asian food."

"the oskar offers upscale bistro cuisine in a pleasantly neutral ambiente. "good ol ́ german cozyness" in spite of the touri edition in the old town is omitted. eating was good, but not overwhelming. an excitingly announced appetizer, e.g., turned out to be a gurken pencil in creme fraiche, which were covered with two small lachs and sprinkled. my crème Brûlée had a very easy tweeper-like absenton - perhaps in the kitchen or in the cooling something got off. I should have told you. the wine card is quite annoying for a self-proclaimed vinothek. the German part offers almost exclusively overpriced (30 € ) good wines of the usual suspects (kuhn, knpiser, dönnhoff, "TakkaTukka-Schneider", Laible).The restaurant or during our visit, service manager was mainly concerned with auditing the obviously untrained help waiters and teaching them the small service-einmaleins "on the job". that annoys and costs a lot of attention, which you can no longer bring to the hospitable."

"101 different variations to obtain a carving (again price also rumpsteak). in the price (between 10,40 euro and 13,90 euro for the carving) are included pommes and a small mixed salad. I had the hessian carving filled with sour wort, cream and speck. a good decision - the meat was juicy and very tasty. for 2 euro less one gets a small portion - only for the small starving. otherwise the portions are large - you get really tired. the pommes are well seasoned and crisp. the salate was also good. all in all a good food for a fair price. ps: the bus station unfortunately disturbs something that is on the teasing in the outdoor area."

"We ordered 3 dishes and 2 of them were extremely salty. It seems like the owners have decided to take a different revenue model -- selling drinks. Plus, size of the banchan has gone extremely small -- we are talking about three, three pieces of pickles here. In addition, that "Korean flammkuchen" is a joke. It is by no means a flammkuchen. oily omelette with kimchi would be a much better description. Anyway, our recent visit to Soban was a huge disappointment. The place is not comparable to the Soban we knew from a year ago."

"This is a lovely quaint restaurant in a pretty residential area of Heidelberg. Our hotel was about minutes walk away so I called to check if I could reserve a table. The response I got was a short and not so sweet “not a...chance” and the phone was hung up. However having eaten here during previous visits we decided to persevere and walked in on spec. The restaurant was very busy in fairness but we were seated pretty quickly. The waitress was very welcoming and friendly. The menu is limited but the food was very good, especially the schnitzel. Definitely worth a visit for good homely food. Perfect on a cold winter’s night."

"I just had the most amazing eating here in my first night in heidelberg. Many thanks for having received this hidden gem. we saw it running along the river, so we went forward to find it. I'm glad we did this. we were able to sit outside with a look at the river and had a really great experience. it is also a rudder club during the day! the service and eating at this place made it an unforgettable eating. the carving was one of the best I ever had. it had the perfect ratio of meat to panade and was perfectly seasoned. this is my opinion after the perfect supplemental salad. freshly picked leafy vegetables, light green dressing, endive or leaves, gurken and cut tomatoes. ach and let us not forget, there are also steak pommes:) my favourite dish were the Swabian ravioli with riceling sauce. I will definitely have a reluctance on this court."

"We first visited this restaurant two years ago and fell in love with the owners, the restaurant and of course the food. We finally made it back to Heidelberg 2 years later, and of course had to re-visit our favourite restaurant that we had found previously. We were staying in the city centre, and a short tram ride and stroll past some beautiful gardens we were back, sat on the terrace and sampling some delicious food and drinks on Saturday evening.We can't recommend this restaurant highly enough, atmosphere and food are exceptional which is a credit to the owners - and being so close to trams to get back to the centre is really convenient.Thanks for making us so welcome again!"

"we were already in 2017 a few days after Christmas at this place. we came here to drink a coffee with my wife and her sister and eat a piece of cake. the place is very relaxing, there are definitiw many really beautiful design aspects like the vintage ceiling lamps. a very important thing is that the bathroom were immaculate. in this review I do not say that the place is excellent, only because we were here on 1st or 2nd januar so many sorts of other types of sweets. the cappuccinos, I mean from the Italian, were also very good and sweet. what I really like about this place are the teases, they should definitely walk to see these tassen. in any case I wanted to find before my return to italia time to come back to try other types of cake, but unfortunately I did not have this chance in mai, I will return for a high time to Germany and will certainly go back there."
