"quirky small place with a proud hull heritage. nostalgic music from the 50s and a full atmosphere. eating is homemade and there is a lot of choice. we had a afternoon tea for 2 £6 per and it was delish! fresh bread and high quality ingredients. the dead had to die, and the owner and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. can not wait for a return next week and would tell them all very well, do they please one and stop them for a great eating experience."

"a fabulous old school culinary experience that they do not find in hull nowadays. a really warm welcome, we sat in the comfortable bar area for drinks while we went through the menu, gave our order and then after a short time we were shown on our table. my two sons had sirloin steak who were cooked to perfection, I had a fantastic porterhouse steak, full of taste and my parents had both seabass. the sweet does not come with the meal, but that means that they can choose what they want, and with the meal they are served silver, they decide about their portions. our table ordered three desserts as two of our party were full. a pretty nice end to a great meal. I used the Gents bathroom, as I think when a restaurant toilets are clean, anywhere else will be clean and my theory is true. the toilets were clean, hygienic and smelled fresh. there was a plentiful insisted on hand soaps and towel. this small restaurant is a jewel of a sound, and it can easily be overlooked when you go to whitefriargate. this restaurant has been on the road for over 60 years and I hope that people will support this local business so that they can look forward to 60 more years in hull"

"The BEST italian in Hull. A small quaint restaurant buried in the heart of Princes Avenue. Whether you are dining in, collection or delivery, the food quality is the same. Always delicious and tasty. The prices are adequate for the size and quality of the portions and with inflation i can understand why they have risen slightly. I don't mind paying the extra, the whole experience at Da Gianni's is worth it. The staff are wonderful and friendly, including the Manager and Chef's (you can see them while they are cooking and they take a moment to speak with you). It is a real friendly family unit with great atmosphere. They you feel valued and get to know you personally. Very authentic as this is what it is like in Italy. "I typically don't write reviews, whether positive or negative, but I felt compelled to share my thoughts after our visit today. This was our second time dining at Larkin's for Sunday lunch, and it was easily the best meal we've had in a long time. The beef was cooked perfectly, with the chef serving us two generous slices. The entire meal was delicious, the staff were friendly and efficient, and the restaurant was bustling but well-organized and clean. It was a truly enjoyable experience. We will definitely be back soon to try the lamb. Well done to everyone at Larkin's!"

"what a great little place to the three-fold Church in the city. I was introduced as they have the half price vegan menu in the januar and so we went out to try it. we have eaten twice here and both of them were delicious. even though they sell meat dishes, the menu is 50% vegan, which is so refreshing to see! I had a burger with vegan doner meat and chili sauce and it was fab, the beer shattered twill rings for dying. it has not dessert tried, but 3 out of 5 options were vegan included a apple cake, salted caramel brownie and churros. it is clean and cozy and the staff is really friendly, overall it is a great place to eat something. we look forward to having dinner and bringing friends."

"I came in because I saw that they had vegan options on the menu. As soon as I went in, I was told that she ran out of all vegan options except the pizza. it took half an hour to produce the vegan pizza, the subpar. very oily, so much that it happened everywhere. the service was bad, the waiting staff didn't want to pick up the deck, so I had to go to them and ask for my change. I hope that was a fuke, and not a regular one, which is why I gave them two and not one."

"we came for a meal on Saturday 11 December 21. super friendly staff . fabulous eating . very nice atmosphere felt like home. but unfortunately we had another visit on Tuesday, 1st March at a week night for my sisters birthday and unfortunately not get the same service. the only employee who seemed to be there did not even realize that we went in the rest and ask if we have a table. fair enough that he might have been short, a nice hallo would not be with them at a moment from a miss. I went by to say that we have a table under the name lisa. only to see no answer. hugh. the waiter spoke every English that I wandered. after, as always stood at the door, the waiter went over a table still no eye contact and pulled two tables apart. because he would never have asked that I would not get the chance to say was for four people. birthday boy was in traffic. when I said I'm sorry that there are 4 of us, he went on to put tables back together, no contact. and went away, after 10mins of satt wait he brought 2 menus my sister birthday girls then showed up and we sat on the look for 2 menus between us all four. 20mins later no drinks or even asked if we want. again, if hed only said that I'm sorry that I'm extremely busy if we were a.s.a.p with them, we would think differently, I went over the bar after more menus and asked if we should order from the bar. he said he was overheared. we all felt a little annoyed by his attitude, a very anxious, he thought he worked in a flat? it looked more like that. it pampered the night, my sister has only booked there because of the beautiful contributors from December on my birthday so disappointed that the least say. I will add, eating was fabulous so compliments to the cook. the only reason for 4 stars."

"Visiting Hull for the first time. Fancied a Thai meal. Booked but found the place virtually empty at 7.30 on a Friday night not a good sign. Ordered the set meal for 2. Waited over half an hour for food good sign I thought obviously freshly prepared. Whilst we waited the bin from the kitchen which was full was wheeled through the restaurant. Then once emptied wheeled back through. Prawn crackers eventually arrived looked like a whole meal version not great. Eventually the starters arrived. Pork skewers which looked like a piece of bacon on a skewer one of which was stone cold. A Thai fish cake which was like a piece of rubber with no flavour. Prawn toast without a hint of prawn. Thank goodness for the peanut sauce which made the tasteless rubbish edible. The mains arrived. The first dish was bland and watery. The next two had a little taste but not great. My partner said the food has made me grumpy that has never happened. Paid quickly and left feeling sick. Headed to Tesco for chocolate. Do not waste your money."

"brilliant caffe for a little class to visit. my wife and her mother often visit me and rave about it, as I was in the city, I took my daughter. now she was several times and said it is so popular, they must have been wit for a table too. we were there at 15 o'clock, quite a few tables available. they have a very nice menu with toasties, panninis, jack and salads etc. around the 6 pfund. it is all freshly made to order and very good. I had a chicken,- speck and cheese bag that came with salat and my daughter had a tuna and cheese. someone had a jacket and it was huge with masdiven toppings. coffee is also worth in a cafetiere, which 1.5 tassen and for £2.70, good. they've got three. well, her house made cake eaten just an amazing. we had 3 serving carrot cakes and at £2.50 per disc, for the dize and quality, perfect. very nice staff too. clean them toilets just a short staircase case. a perfect lunch. all in all 25 pounds. visit this place and keep them a high quality independent caffe on the map."

"On first impressions I was underwhelmed. The interior is simple, like that of an Aegean coastal village, washed blue woodwork, white tiles and simple wooden tables and chairs. Not particularly loving the fake vines and flowers on the ceiling. That added nothing to the ambiance except looking cheap and gathering dust. The restaurant was a lot smaller than expected, but cosy. Authentic greek music playing in the background,but not too loud, making the atmosphere feel very relaxed and comfortable. Clientele were a mixture of cultures including Greek or Cypriot, which is usually a good indication of the quality and authenticity of the food. Service was attentive and tables were sanitised before being seated. Hand sanitizer also available on each table and strictly table service, which most of us prefer. Going forward I hope this remains. The menu isn't crowded, cold meze dishes and hot meze dishes, should you wish to pick and mix as a party. Plus meals from the grill which consist of Gyros,Koftas, Sausage and cutlets. There is a specials board with traditional Greek dishes, such as moussaka. I opted for the Chicken Platter and a Greek salad . If eating a meze the dishes are brought out in order of preparation, cold first. This is a traditional way to dine. Greek wines and desserts are also available. The platter was a sight to behold, in hindsight I shouldn't have ordered the Greek salad as there was plenty on the platter. The chicken was delicious, shredded and very tasty. The food was very fresh and simply seasoned. This however was very clever as it complimented the freshness of the salad. Sliced pitta, skin on fries and homemade tsatziki dip also included on the platter. I definitely couldn't finish it all. My only criticism is that I would have liked to see Greek rice as an option, homemade flatbread and there was an overkill of green peppers in the salad. Overall it was a pleasure to visit with a hipster vibe. Ample parking on the avenue at the front. I would definitely recommend. The most popular dish appears to be the Gyros. Go on, go greek!"

"Visited this place after watching Danny's review (rate my takeaway on YouTube) and omg he was so right about the food there. The best burger I ever had. I had a beefeater burger who came with roast potatoes! The food is really excellent, all cooked to perfection and full of amazing flavors, enjoyed it so much Friday so decided to go again Saturday. You can just say how good the food is because it's always busy. Really friendly staff, dog friendly too. They could easily not realize that this place is here, as it is fucked away, good to hunt it. Definitely one of my favorite places for good amount of delicious food. Will definitely be back."

"Friendly and welcoming. Nice relaxed atmosphere. Good table presentation. Trying hard to be upmarket but the quality of fish I had was disappointingly poor especially for a sea port! Dry with unrecognisable taste. Veg and mushrooms need to be cooked freshly and I suspect they were reheated. Would be easy to raise the standards and I hope they do because it has great potential. The food quality on this occasion didn't marry with the prices, unfortunately."

"Turned up tonight at 9pm with 8 12 year olds. Sleepover treat! The staff were amazing. Aaron and Michael were amazing singing happy birthday with a piece of free cake and bringing her a badge and card! They let the girls try the ice cream and the girl allergic to ice cream the spoilt her with a little bowl of marshmallows and flakes to go with her hot chocolate. They had so much fun breaking into a spontaneous dance while watching the music video. Excellent service as always."

"After a football match, four of us found ourselves wanting a bite to eat, and we decided on this restaurant because we had enjoyed it in the past and were never let down. I had honestly forgotten just how exceptional this place is. We didn’t have a reservation, but since it was early, we were seated right away. We quickly ordered some cold, reasonably-priced bottled beer, then turned our attention to the menu. Though the menu isn't extensive, that's part of its charm. It features a handful of starters, several classic French dishes, burgers, as well as savory and sweet crepes, ensuring there's something for everyone. We ended up ordering beef bourguignon, beef stroganoff, a Cajun chicken burger, and a cheeseburger. Everything was freshly prepared in the open kitchen and served to us piping hot. Within 15 minutes, our plates were wiped clean—there wasn’t a single thing to complain about. We will definitely be returning!"

"First time visiting Frankie and Benny's with a friend. We were politely welcomed to a seat and asked if we would like anything to drink before the waitress left. We asked for some time to decide what we wanted to order. The waitress returned promptly after serving customers who were ready to order. This was reasonable time for us. We then ordered drinks and two courses each. A starter and a main. The drinks were brought over in good time for us to settle and have a chat. The starters arrived not long after. My friend ordered a garlic bread pizza which he described as greasy but tasty. I decided to have the mozzarella dippers which tasted bland, even with the sauce. A couple of them were overcooked. For our mains we ordered a vegan burger with sweet potato fries and a plain 6oz burger with fries. The vegan burger was very tasty, however the sweet potato fries were slightly overcooked but still rather nice. The plain 6oz burger arrived : not plain. It had to be sent back and corrected. However my friend was pleased with it once it came back. We were rather full afterwards and decided to pass on trying a dessert. We asked for the tab and it came back to us at an incorrect amount. We soon realised they charged for a jug of the cocktail I ordered instead of a glass and 2 servings of coke. We brought this up to the waitress and she fixed the issue with the cocktail but informed us that because we ordered the coke from the main menu, instead of the side menu (even though they are the same price) that the refills would not be free. 7/10 food. 6/10 service. Wouldn't be somewhere I'd go back in a hurry as there are far superior eateries for similar prices."
