"We ate here for our last meal of our family holiday. We weren’t disappointed. We were all craving a good British pub meal and the steak and ale pie didn’t disappoint. Our waiter was patient and very friendly with our three young children. It was reasonable priced with great portions. Wish we found it earlier. Keep up the good work! "Wow, Sian Powell Gary Berwick have made a great job with this extensive refurbishment of The Poacher. A free house that was first licenced neck in 1683 and has seen many owners. It finally became known as The Poachers in the 1970 's. You really must disregard any reviews before it 's relaunch on November 24th 2018. Review date: 13th December. Friendly staff, good beers and some great looking food. The interior is bright, clean and very welcoming. Gary and the staff at that time made you feel at home. The menu has a good selection to choose from but I had had to choose the 8oz rib eye steak cooked medium rare, and I must say, I was very impressed with the quality. It just fell apart with hardly any force at all. As a note, medium rare is just that, a lovely pink colour. The plates even came out pre warmed and the chips were double cooked. Very enjoyable with the rich creamy peppercorn sauce. But, a picture can tell a thousand words, so here are a few I took. It 's well worth the visit. Regards D Happy Christmas."

"This restaurant is beautifully located on the waterfront. We were greeted warmly and received excellent, friendly service throughout our meal. We opted for the set menu which was a great deal at £17.95 for 2 courses or £20.95 for 3. I enjoyed the calamari followed by the boeuf bourguignon (the mashed potatoes were especially delicious). The French white wine (cuvee 22) was fantastic. Overall, it was a wonderful dining experience and I would highly recommend this restaurant and will definitely be returning."

"The best curry in Portishead no question. Exceptional every time and always such lovely staff. Having been to all the others in Portishead, I can absolutely say this is by far the best curry house. The tastiest, most flavoursome food cooked to perfection. The restaurant is also a lovely atmosphere. Can’t wait for my next Ghandi curry! Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5"

"The table service for drinks was very slow. 10 minutes after being told “ well bring your drinks over” we were still waiting. We had to prompt the young barman. It took 15 minutes in total. The price of drinks here is also at the very top end and more expensive than City Centre bars. 6 for a beer you can buy elsewhere for a or more cheaper. It felt we were being ripped off."
"The food at this restaurant has consistently been great, and they also host a lively pub quiz. It's one of the rare chain pubs that is popular among locals. To excel in the quiz, it helps to have knowledge from the 1950s through the 1990s, but it's free and enjoyable. I suggest stopping by for a drink, testing your trivia skills, or trying some of their food."

"I and my friend we have welcomed with smiling faces and warm. we were quickly brought to our table that is perfect for a cozy date night. our waiter often tended us until we were ready to order, we asked for appetizer and moments later he returned with a van of appletiser, which we all found terribly, as my partner has a strong north accent, which I cannot even understand. at the beginning we had a king prawn puri that was perfectly cooked, temperature hot and a decent amount of garnel. for our main carl had chicken vibdaloo, which he could not get enough, the hew was juicy and juicy, cooked to perfection. I had a chicken parsanda I never had before, but wow it is the best Indian court I ever had. each dish has a generous amount of huh so much so that we took a Doggy bag home. all about a great experience. we will come back safely in the near future. the service was excellent and the young went beyond and beyond. not a single trouble with our evening apart from going to the house in the rain."
"After meeting with a customer and having some extra time, we decided to park at this excellent pub. We arrived for an early lunch and were able to find a free table, despite several being reserved. It seemed likely that they had been booked in advance. The Morretti and Amstel beers were cold and refreshing, and our food arrived quickly, even though we appeared to be the first ones to order. The king prawns starter and lasagne were delicious and satisfying, while the Caesar salad was crisp and fresh. There was no loud music, making conversation easy. Overall, it was a great lunch experience."

"Superb family-run fish and chip shop and so much more! We descended on the Fish and Chip shop with 10 hungry teenage boys who'd been Kayaking nearby with the Mendip Activity centre. The fish and chips did not disappoint, they were delicious and generous portions. Great breaded mushrooms, mushy peas, curry sauce too! It's great that there is space to sit outside and eat. We'd never been here before and it's just across the road from the beach, which is a perfect position. They also sell a myriad of other things, many of which the boys also tested(! including ice creams, slushies and alcoholic beverages for the grown ups. What stood out here was the friendliness of the owners. We pestered them with various questions and requests and nothing was too much trouble."

"Accomodation road, Bleadon, has been turned into a crime scene for the second time this year, unlike the apprehension of the Somerset gimp (9th of May 2023), justice will served 28 days later how long it takes for receive a refund from the Catherine's Inn. Sticky tables, half the menu was not available and side dishes forgotten. Do not order from the app unless you want to wait 15 minutes for your non existent drinks. Then wait 28 days for a refund because you paid through the app. What a sad little pub, you ruined my night so you could have th money, but now I hope you spend it on some lessons in grace and decorum, because you have all the grace of a reversing dump truck without any tyres ok ."

"The restaurant has a nice and cozy atmosphere. The service was friendly, however, when we ordered coffees they were all left on the table without any indication of whose was whose. I was disappointed with my brunch waffles topped with fried chicken as I thought they were homemade, but they turned out to be store-bought waffles with sugar inside, making them dry. The addition of maple syrup made the dish overly sweet. If the waffles were homemade without the crunchy sugar, I believe they would have been perfect."

"We Went to the new “sports bar”to play pool and have a game of darts….. you’d expect them to have new Dartboards as it’s just reopened after a refurb and level(ish) pool tables etc but nope! Old battered dartboard, pool table was one sided, beer was flat….also 2 others in the pub. So very empty for a Saturday afternoon, maybe everyone else had the same experience! Can’t see it being open long!"

"Our experience at the restaurant tonight was disappointing due to the poor quality of the food. Upon arrival, we were informed that there was a shortage of items due to a busy lunch service and a missed delivery on New Year's Day. It would have been helpful to know this when making our reservation so we could have planned accordingly. Despite being provided with a list of unavailable items, we ordered what was still available. However, it became apparent that not all issues were disclosed to us, as the dishes we received did not match their descriptions on the menu. The focaccia was not as described, the Bruschetta lacked its usual ingredients, and the burger buns were of lower quality than expected. Although we tried to be understanding of the circumstances, paying over £200 for a meal for six left us feeling disappointed. Charging high prices for reduced quality food seems unfair to customers."

"During my second visit to this restaurant, I was disappointed that they would not accommodate a walk-in request for a table for three, despite there being many empty tables. They mentioned a baby shower event later that evening as the reason. It may be best to make a reservation in advance, especially during off-peak times like 4pm on a Saturday. I was surprised by the lack of hospitality in this situation. The restaurant responded to my review, explaining that their small kitchen may have been focused on preparing for a large group. It's possible that booking a table in advance could help avoid disappointment, as it seems they have limited food capacity. On my first visit, I enjoyed the nice bar and casual dining atmosphere. I only had a few drinks, but I plan on returning. They have a good selection of beers, including Brooklyn Lagers and IPA."

"Three rather “senior” couples visited on two consecutive evenings and were exceptionally pleased with their experiences on both occasions. From the warm welcome, the friendly and busy atmosphere, the prompt service and high quality good value food, we had no reason for complaint of any sort. Compliments and congratulations were more the order of the day. Two of us requested gluten free meals and these were carefully catered for and delivered. That said, a word of warning to fellow sufferers, do mention your needs and do not trust the printed menu. Food marked as gluten free should more correctly be marked as gluten free options are available. I almost ordered the steak and cheese pie marked as gluten free and had I not mentioned my need could easily have been given one that most certainly was not gluten free. Otherwise very highly recommended."

"To be honest, the most amazing curry I had in a long, long time (and I am from the north) with food there are two ways to be exceptional. make them cumbersome dishes good, or make them simple dishes perfect. this is a place for the latter, while still brilliant innovatiw. really a homage to excellent curry. can not recommend very enough."

"I ventured upon this eatery whilst in Western Super Mere, I should have gone with my gut instinct when it came to first impressions of this establishment. My girgling stomach somehow told me otherwise. I was extremely hungry, and this place seemed to be the place. Once inside the place was not as expected, it seemed cluttered, and their was some confusion over placing my order. I understood you placed your order and paid at the end, but for some particular reason, they seem to want me to pay immediately. I ordered the omlette and salad. I chose to sit outside as it felt more clean in all honesty. The food tasted fine, but I just got thr the impressions cleaning and food hygiene standards could have been much better. The toilets were grotty, desperately in need of painting, and deep cleaning. The doors did not seem to close properly. In conclusion, I can only rate as poor as no matter the circumstances. I personally felt the place was lacking in standards, and it did not sit right with me. I wouldn't return here sadly."

"Not busy? The barman and the landlord say its an hour for food because there 's only one chef. That 's unacceptable at this time of year. (I later added: You can see from the reply below that the landlord got very agitated at my review above driven both by being hungry and only finding out about the kitchen delay after we 'd ordered drinks meaning we had no real choice but to wait. The food was excellent as it was last time. The barman and the serving lad were delightfully polite and helpful. And it actually arrived in far less time than the hour I was quoted on ordering. I guess it was just bad luck that I was hangry and that out of the two times we 've ever been to this location, there was a huge delay for food. Jumping the gun and writing a review before I 'd even been served was clearly irrational of me, especially only to be confronted at the bar with it by the landlord 20 mins later, that was an interesting part of my visit today. Lovely views of the channel and the pier."

"We booked for lunch on Bank Holiday Monday for our granddaughters 10th Birthday. On arrival we thought the menu was small and limited. It was difficult for us to choose food the children would like. After two of us ordered bean chilli with rice we were informed they had run out of rice but offered us chips which we agreed to. Well the chilli was watery tinned tomatoes, chilli powder and 3 different types of beans. The chips were dark brown, overcooked, limp and reheated as were the chips served with the other meals. We were unable to finish our meal as it was the worst chilli I have ever been served. We were very disappointed with the quality of all the food and wouldn't recommend eating at this pub. I informed a member of staff of our disappointment in the quality of food and she said she would tell the chef but no-one from the kitchen spoke to us. Beautiful scenery but awful food."
"We visited the Jubilee Inn yesterday evening for a drink and a meal. The pub was really quiet. We ordered the hunters chicken and lasagne. When the hunters chicken came out the size of the chicken breast was tiny more like hunters quail!! It came with a handful of chips but there was no bacon of the tiny chicken breast and no onions rings which I had to ask. A child would have demolished this meal in no time, certainly not an adult size The lasagne was tasteless and again the chips that came with it were minimal. Again really not an adults meal We ate and left as soon as we had finished. Not a great meal probably explains why the place was so quiet"
