"I want to start by mentioning that the restaurant's website seems to focus primarily on events, which makes it difficult to find specific information about their Sunday lunch hours and menu. Upon arrival, I informed the staff that I could not have cheese in or on my food. They were attentive and checked with me about certain dishes, which I appreciated. The welcome was friendly, and the staff were great. The venue itself is lovely. We all opted for the Sunday roast, except for my daughter. Here’s a breakdown of what we ordered: - 1 x Le Serre Chardonnay - £24.50 - 3 x Cokes (330ml) - £7.50 - 1 x Pink Flamingo Cocktail - £9.50 - 1 x Pravha - £5.00 - 2 x S P Squid - £14.80 - 2 x Moroccan Haloumi - £14.80 - 1 x Confit Chicken - £16.95 - 2 x Free Range Chicken - £33.90 - 1 x Topside of Beef - £17.95 - 1 x Churros - £6.40 - 3 x Sticky Toffee Puddings - £20.70 - 1 x Coffee Americano - £3.00 - 1 Double Hennessy Fine - £28.00 - 1 x Espresso Martini - £8.00 **Subtotal**: £211.00 **Service Charge**: £21.10 **Total**: £232.10 I made sure to verify that the staff receives their share of the service charge (except the managers). As for the food, all the starters were fine; I would have preferred a little more chili and, if I’m honest, I ended up "borrowing" some of my daughter's. The main courses were impressive—my son’s beef was melt-in-your-mouth tender, and my free-range chicken roast was packed with flavor. The desserts were enjoyable as well; my son loved the churros, while my wife found her Sticky Toffee Pudding a bit too generous in portion size. Now, for a couple of minor points, but I’m not deducting any stars for them: 1. The roast potatoes were a bit bland. I’m not sure what fat was used for roasting; I was hoping for goose fat. They were large, which I appreciate, but I found the outside a bit hard to cut through. I suspect they might have been prepared earlier in the day and kept warm. 2. The roast chicken felt a bit lacking without stuffing. 3. As for the Sticky Toffee Pudding, it was good but didn’t quite measure up to my wife’s own recipe. It felt more like sponge cake and could have used more toffee sauce. The ice cream on top was nice, though—I wouldn't have minded a bit more! 4. Lastly, I enjoy a brandy with my coffee at the end of the meal. I appreciated the choice of cold or warm milk, but the brandy was served in a cold glass, which it didn’t deserve. Holding it didn’t help much; it would have benefited from a warmer glass. Would I return? Absolutely! I didn't dock any points for the minor issues. However, I should mention that the acoustics could be challenging for the hearing impaired—the restaurant lacks soft furnishings to absorb some of the noise, and the background music was a bit overwhelming for me with my hearing aids. I found it difficult to hear my family over the sounds from other tables, as hearing aids tend to amplify louder noises. The music was more of a distraction than an enhancement. Overall, I had a pleasant experience, and I would recommend giving this place a try!"

"Visited: 29/6/18 Food Standards' Rating: 5/5 Our friends had already arrived, and were sitting out the back on the patio area. First drinks. Had a good bit of banter with the people greeting guest. Really friendly atmosphere. Seating on the patio was extremely comfortable. Getting more drinks was easy peasy. A chap came and took our food order, and then with more drinks coming we went inside to our table. Five of us in total. I ordered the salmon, with the grapefruit and wasn't disappointed; I could have eaten more.... Before they took the food order they alerted us to the fact that there were only two fillet steaks left if we wanted to lay claim to them, and my friend and I did. I eaten at places before that claim that the steaks are 28 days' old. These were absolutely perfect. I had mine cooked blue, and it was beautiful. A crusting of crack pepper, and it was sumptuous. £27. None of the steaks are actually shown on the menu, so it really does depend upon what is available. Aubrey's dry aged beef. My wife had the fish cakes for her main, and really liked them. Pre-dinner drinks consisted of Gin and Fevertree tonic, Pinot Grigio, I stuck to Beck's, but my friend had some other light beer and lager, neither to my taste. With meal the women had Viognier £25? , and us two blokes had a Malbec £35 . The waiter took time to explain about the Malbec, and was very enthusiastic in providing the details. Full marks for his love of what he does. OK. Ready for this...... With a rounding up with a tip £400 for the five of us. I put it down the ladies' tonic waters....."

"We ordered a takeaway on Friday night, collected it on time and paid. We got it home and dished up. Upon sitting down to eat, we found that the food was tasteless. We called them immediately to tell them; it’s not fair to criticise if you don’t say anything. We were told that they had sold 100 of the same dish that evening, and that there couldn’t be a problem with it. Whilst food can be subjective, this meal was simply tasteless. He was aggressive and defensive from the first instance, all we were doing was letting them know our meal wasn’t good. We asked for replacement meals, and the person on the phone indicated that we brought the uneaten meals back for them when collecting our replacements. A little extreme, but fair enough. Upon arriving back at the ‘restaurant’ we were told to sit down, an invitation we refused. The manager inspected our meals, similar to the way an afterbirth is inspected during labour. His voice was raised, and his whole manner was aggressive. We did respond with a raised voice, purely to be heard. We asked if our meals would be long, he said not long. We asked if they had started to be cooked, which he initially said no to. When we asked for a refund instead he changed his story and said that they were nearly ready. He then came back with the meals and insisted that he’d done us a good turn by replacing our naan, poppadoms chips even though we’d eaten most of them. Admittedly, a fair few chips had gone, but everything else was there. We’d only eaten enough to identify that the meal was bad, and who doesn’t eat the chips whilst dishing up! We offered to pay for the items he was claiming he had replaced despite being consumed, he refused. Had we been eating on-site, we’d have sent it back with the same amount gone. For completeness, the replacement meals were absolutely fine, although we had somewhat lost our appetites having left our house again to get them. There is simply no reason to accept poor quality just because it’s a takeaway, and to be honest, £33.90 is a lot of money to literally throw in the bin, we tried to resolve the situation and were met with aggression from the first moment we called back. The whole experience was frankly aggressive and confrontational, and management need to take a long, hard look at their customer service model. A business where staff are rude can’t and won’t survive."
