"It was some 7 weeks ago that this restaurant was reviewed with 5* and after revisiting on 27th December 2017 I cannot believe that I was in the same establishment. The food was simply awfull. There was a limited menu choice which was not seasonal but easy to prepare dishes which suggests the normal chef was not in attendance. In addition to the limited menu a number of items were unavailable. Three of our party had the only fish dish which was haddock in batter, the portion size was half of what I had had before, there was more batter than fish and the fish looked far from fresh. Another of our party had a chicken ceaser salad which was the only dish they could eat, the chicken was tasteless, the gem lettuce used was limp outside leaves, there were a substantial no of anchovies in the dish with the whole being smothered in what should have been a Ceaser sauce making the dish very salty and unappetising. We also had Fillet steak the sirloin was unavailable) which was supposed to be cooked medium rare but came just about well done. The chips were a further dissapointment, we are not sure whether they were twice or three times cooked, but whatever they were a poor example of a chip. They were clearly over cooked on the outside and undercooked in the centre and had a taste of being cooked in a larger than normal quantity where the cooking oil does not reach a high enough temperature to cook and crisp. The mark of a well run establishment is to resolve issues on the spot, but despite advising the waiting staff of our disappointment it went no further and we were presented with the bill. It takes a long time and effort to build a reputation but moments to destroy one and, whilst I generally only review in a positive way on this occasion when visiting with friends that had travelled a long way there was no alternative. Needless to say, in my previous review when I suggested other restaurants should watch out on this visit they have nothing to worry about. It would take something special for us to return."

"Not one to complain when trying to enjoy a birthday. Visiting Cardiff for my friends birthday and booked what appeared a nice restaurant. After a trip out of the city centre we arrived at La Marina. It’s was like arriving at something from the 1970’s. Old fashioned carpets, cheap blackboards kebab shop ice counters with different types of meat in contact with each other. No table service, yet premium prices. Cheap napkins. Ordered at 19:30 and our friends that arrived late ordered at 20:00 whislt our friends that arrived later received their food at 20:20, the earlier customers received their food at 20:40, 1.40mins later after reminding THREE of the waiters of our order (very unacceptable under any hospitality establishment, let alone one that sells themselves as a ‘premium’ establishment . No apology until we were busted by the 3rd waiter. One meal replaced and still under standard medium rare steak delivered burnt. No meal was served with veg, and no option on the lovely ‘blackboards’ to advertise that this was an option. I compared the establishment to McDonald’s the waiter wasn’t happy about this but in fact the service is much quicker food a lot more satisfactory when compared to pricing at La Marina. Unlike a price of meat for £28 with no sides and bottle of average rose wine for £40. Save yourselves the trek out from the city and attend a chain restaurant instead the food and service would be much better. The restaurant was so cold by the time we left we had to put jackets on at the table. AND JUST TO TOP IT OFF THE FIRE ALARM WENT OFF AT THE END THROUGHOUT THE WHOLE RESTAURANT probably because of our burnt steak. (Not able to add the recording of this"
