"After making our voyage from Woolton, Liverpool Where John Lennon is from , we stumbled upon the quaint, quiet venue that is “The Anchor Hotel “Kippford””. Going to keep this short and sweet. We stumbled into the venue at 2pm on the dot, where we were greeted by a young lady Graze? , she sat us right by the roaring fire maybe too hot if you ask me LOL . Our baby boy Jack Russel “Ringo” was treated to a bowl of water and a hearty biscuit without him having to move a paw. My wife ate. I had food as well! Graze was very attentive and we were introduced to the South African guy Collin maybe the owner? . We very quickly became close with both the workers, ourselves and Ringo were quite upset we never got the WhatsApp details of the both of them, but “Let it Be” I guess LOL The Beatles Reference . My food was good, but the waiters served. We LOVED the Halloween decorations, reminded us of our home in Woolton, Liverpool. Could definitely use a few more though, but we understand the current cost of living crisis. We were including Ringo under the impression that the hospitality industry is dying, but clearly the natural stars Graze and Collin are stopping this from occurring in Dumfries and Galloway, South West Scotland, The Anchor Hotel, Kippford, DG54LN. Last time we comed there was a lot of bush on the building, I miss it. Collin please contact me ASAP if you see this, you will always have a home with us here in Woolton, Liverpool. Graze always welcome : . Love, Shyanne, Derek and Ringo the rockstar like the Beetle"

This place oozes character and when the fire is in full flow it's super cosy. I ordered fish and chips which was superb with perfectly crispy batter encasing a large fish. Very family and dog friendly.

We have visited this pub many times over the years, different seasons and weather's. Always a friendly, warm welcome from the staff, a fire in the grate and hearty pub grub. Always family friendly and welcome break from a good stroll out along the beach or through the woodland. Visualizza piatti

Stayed for a couple of nights and what a great place, dog friendly rooms which are very clean, comfortable and tidy with fantastic views, great tasty breakfast which is really well presented and well looked after by Jimmy and the rest of the staff. One minor complaint water pressure in shower not brilliant but had worse. Will definitely be booking again.

We have been coming to The Anchor for many years, and must say that today was our best visit yet. Both of us ordered the roast beef, which was delicious. The meat was tender, the vegetables were fresh and tasty, and the gravy was yummy - one of the best Sunday lunches we've ever had. The service was fantastic, thanks to Jimmy who was a very helpful and friendly host. Despite being busy, he was on the ball and attentive. We highly recommend this place and will definitely be back to try their evening meals.

Went for a walk down at Kippford last week and thought it would be nice to get a coffee or tea from the Anchor as there was a sign out front saying the coffee shop was open. We were the only customers and there was no staff around so we tried to double check online if they were open or not. On the website it said they are “open all day everyday” but serve food from 12. We came at 11am so thought it would be fine to get a drink. We could hear music in the back so knew there was some staff there. We rang the bell twice, 5 minutes apart but still no staff came to assist us. Very disappointing. Visualizza piatti

During our three-night stay in Kippford over New Year's, we enjoyed multiple visits to The Anchor. We had a delicious meal on New Year's Eve afternoon, attended the lively New Year's Eve party, and enjoyed a tasty lunch on New Year's Day. Our experience was fantastic, with beautiful food, friendly staff, excellent management, and a great atmosphere. The hardworking staff ensured our meals were plentiful, hot, and flavorful. We loved Kippford so much that we have already booked to return next New Year with friends. We will definitely dine at The Anchor again and attend the party. Special mention to the fabulous DJ who kept us dancing until the early hours!

I had high expectations for this restaurant, but unfortunately I was left disappointed. The location is lovely, but it seems like the establishment could benefit from better management of the menu and drinks selection. The lack of real ale in the pumps suggests poor handling of the cellar, as unopened barrels should last a long time. Some food items were unavailable, and the options that were available were underwhelming. The quality of the food did not meet my expectations, despite the warnings in previous reviews. I did not voice my disappointment, as other reviewers have noted that the manager can be difficult to deal with. The atmosphere in the restaurant was also tense, and I suspect th...

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
