"They have a free campsite here which is brilliant. Good flat pitches and a toilet with shower that you can use. We had a meal in the pub which for the most part was ok but one of the meals was not very good, nuked new potatoes which were quite inedible and Hunters Chicken which was just a butterflied chicken breast smothered in bottled barbecue sauce with a strange cheese topping! To be fair the staff were very helpful and understanding and took the price of this meal off the bill. It was probably just a one-off as they seemed to be having staffing issues. It is a quaint pub with a good atmosphere."

Absolutely fantastic! The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, and there's plenty of flat parking space available. I will definitely be returning. Price per person: £10–20. Service: 5/5. Atmosphere: 5/5.

We camped overnight and it was great, very welcoming and had a quick tour around the site. We went for a walk around the slate quarry as food was from 6-9, we had a lovely steak and ale pie! I had the bolognese sauce with spaghetti yesterday, and it was amazing! I also enjoyed fresh mozzarella with basil and a banana split for dessert. I really hope it will be a special dish again tomorrow night! For lunch today, I tried the chicken mayo on a fresh brioche bun along with a salad. The flavors were bursting with freshness. I highly recommend the beetle chisel!
