"We stopped for lunch here today . Been a few times before for coffee cakes . Unfortunately we were disappointed with today’s lunch . The outside seating area is made of wooden pallets very uncomfortable and they were dirty too., coffee stains etc.... The menu selection was very limited and when we did order the portions were tiny main courses served in 3 inch shallow bowls with salad on the side £12 per meal ! Coffee £3 each in small take away cups . The risotto option had no veg or any chicken or fish etc in it .. it was basically rice and strong lemons herbs . The side salad was varied . £30 for a very small lunch for two persons and two coffees . Unfortunately I do not recommend, there are so many other nice cafes restaurants in this area which offer better value and much superior food eg . ride coffee , birdhouse , Banchory lodge . Cakes are lovely and the customer service is good but we won’t be recommending or returning . If sitting outside then the use of proper cups would be better rather than take away ones ."

first visit in one place after the conclusion. eating was only amazing special small menu, but enough choice. wonderful slowly cooked bark. pudding incredible with wonderful house made ice.

The food is excellent and delicious, with options for both vegans and vegetarians. The staff is helpful and attentive. The indoor tables are fully booked, but there are plenty of outdoor tables available.

All the food was delicious- soufflé, chickpea casserole, and fish salad. Lovely salads accompanied all our dishes and a bowl of fresh bread to share. Very pleasant atmosphere inside with good views of Deeside. Service was very good too. Portions were an adequate size Visualizza piatti

Great selection of new courses. All the right size for us. The slow roast beef had a wonderful deep flavours with a fresh piquancy. Warm chocolate mouse and summer fruits had a wonderful balance of flavours. Worth watching for fortnightly Friday openings. The next one...is on 20th August. The menu varies each time. Service sensitive to digestion not too quick but nicely timed.

visited tonight for a gourmet evening when a taste menu of 5 cures with matching weeping was offered. it was the best meal we had in a restaurant for a very long time. the menu was very well planned, the food was carefully prepared and presented, each cure was delicious without taking off, and the weeped the eating perfect. the service was excellent and the price was very reasonable. overall an enormously pleasant experience. will definitely return for the next gourmet evening.

My companion and I went to the coffee shop in the morning. Although there were many tables available, we were only able to sit at a high table or go outside. We opted for the latter. The young waiter did not seem interested in serving us. We ordered our coffee and decided to sit outside. The table was dirty, likely due to the increased cleaning measures for COVID-19. It seemed like the tables were not being cleaned promptly after guests left. The coffee was not impressive. I spontaneously decided to visit this restaurant and was warmly greeted upon arrival, quickly seated at a fantastic table. The menu may not have been extensive, but there were plenty of options to choose from. The waitress provided helpful descriptions and recommendations, which greatly assisted us in making our selections. The food was expertly prepared and incredibly delicious – it was clear that the chef was skilled. We plan on returning very soon. Overall, the service, atmosphere, and food all received perfect scores. I highly recommend trying the Twice Baked Parmesan Souffle. Price range for a meal is £30-40 per person.

I went to this restaurant at the beginning of the month for their pizza night after seeing good reviews on Facebook. However, I was disappointed to find that there was no children's menu available. The atmosphere was eerie and the lighting was not cozy, giving the place a cold feel. After waiting 45 minutes for our pizzas to come out, we were underwhelmed by the quality. I make fresh pizza every week and even supermarket pizza is better than what we were served. Additionally, there was a loud group of people who were disturbing other customers, but the staff did not address the issue. Overall, the service was slow, the food was average at best, and the prices were too high for what we receiv...

"Sunday, 3rd September 2023 – 19:00 Meal: Wine Starters – Main – Coffee My friend and I arrived at 19:00 to a busy but not overfull restaurant without a reservation and they accommodated us upstairs. Menus were produced and we ordered a bottle of white wine and a jug of water. 0rders placed for starters and 2 servings of the Italian style fish stew on the ‘Specials Board’ at 26.99 each. Tomato and chilli with promises of loads of different fish. The toss up was between a steak or the stew (which neither of us would cook at home). The table was dirty and needed wiping – this request was placed 3x on the young waitron who eventually produced a cloth slopping water from a bucket in the corner cupped in her hands where she half heartedly wiped the table with water dripping onto my friend’s lap. Hurried mop up with tissues out of my bag. The white wine was plonked on the table – next to the cooler – unopened and no glasses. Several attempts were made to attract the waitron’s attention. Eventually another bottle was produced opened and we were advised the waitron was under age and not allowed to pour wine. Perfectly acceptable had she produced an opener and the glasses with an explanation I would have been happy to help myself – we understand and appreciate these things. The starters arrived and were delicious! The chef then came out to see us and explained that there was no lobster for the stew – we asked for extra monkfish, he then said there was no monkfish left – but could help us with other white fish and crab claws. He said he was down to the last 2 portions, and he would ensure they were hearty. We were a bit concerned and suggested perhaps we settle for the steak which is always delicious. He assured us we had made the right choice and would enjoy the stew. The stews arrived and were ‘hearty’ if being crammed with the contents of a tin of crab claws is your definition of hearty. The promised ‘rich tomato broth with chilli and garlic’ was a watered down version of what was clearly less than a cup of the original broth left at the bottom of the pot topped with water. It was tasteless – lacking in hint of either chilli, wine, garlic or herbs – having lived in Malta I can assure you I have a deep understanding of Med cooking. I guess we were lucky we didn’t have the salty brine of the crab claws as the broth. It was inedible and we were starving so we kept adding salt and pepper – we were beyond the point of returning the food which was a mistake in hindsight. We skipped dessert – had coffees and left. The meal came to nearly £100.00. This was an expensive lousy experience. We paid a generous tip – because they accommodated us without a reservation. Take aways from the experience: • The restaurant service on a Sunday evening at 19:00 should be as good as it is on a Friday at 19:00 • Being a local and having eaten there several times – it is my first choice for a ‘good’ meal – don’t abuse the luxury of local support. • Train your waitrons to clean tables, by wringing out the cloth and not dripping water on your patrons. • Waitrons (even under aged ones) should at least carry a wine opener, and understand that wine glasses should be produced when delivering wine. • Your chef should know better and never, ever assume he can cut costs by selling the dregs from his kitchen. • A poor dining experience costs you more than you think. We would have ordered dessert, and more importantly returned for a second meal in the next week – WE DIDN’T! I have a friend coming from Ireland in November – do I risk taking her to the Anchor?"
