"depuis plusieurs années nous fréquentons ce restaurant unique par sa carte, la qualité du service et de la cuisine. Couscous et tajines de toutes sortes de variété, toujours succulents et trop copieux (sauf pour les très gros mangeurs! ) patisseries orientales délicieuses, et un patron dont l'accueil et la présence tout au long du repas sont un gage de service parfait avec le sourire, la convivialité, qui conduisent les clients à échanger quelquefois entre eux comme le patron le fait. Allez-y sans retenue, cuisine pour tous y compris pour les amateurs d'épices et cuisine relevée."

"Restaurant recommended by friends We loved the decor, the atmosphere in general, the authentic old kitchen: a real treat, affordable price. Only small flat, the welcome was a little warm, but good, we still put 5 stars, because very good service, the waitress is very pleasant. Not disappointed, we'll be back. I recommend"

"Restaurant toujours plein dans le haut de Bernay. Une très vieille adresse incontournable lorsque l’on passe dans le coin ! Ca ne fait pas très net la décoration a eu son heure de gloire, et ça fait pas frais !Dans l’assiette, c’est ce qui nous intéresse, c’est de la cuisine très simple, très (trop ?) copieux, varié, mais toujours très bonne. Coté copieux, vous demandez des frites, vous avez un saladier (de frites maison), pareil pour les épinards...Un service à l’ancienne qui déstabilise, car au final ça reste efficace. A des lustres des restaurants d’aujourd’hui. Jamais le même sur la longueur du repas. Cela fait vraiment très désorganisé, mais au final, c’est rapide et il n’y a pas d’erreurs.Pour le prix, c’est imbattable. A noter qu’en début de repas, c’est la tradition, on vous pose une terrine ou des rillettes sur votre table…Un 4 limite.Une adresse incontournable dans le coin !"

"Beautiful setting and worth a visit. We went during Covid and their attention to detail was exceptional. At no point did we feel uncomfortable as tables were well spaced out and everything was continually sanitised even the credit card machine. The food was simple but tasty and well cooked. We had escalope de foil gras, pork (cochon) which was a little disappointing as whilst I knew it was effectively a pork chop, I did think they would do something with it to make it look more appetising but it did taste good. My husband had the beef which was just a piece of thin sirloin fried in a pan. Very basic and simply. Dessert was a lemon mousse and my husband had profiteroles cooked with apples and calvados which were delicious. Overall the food was very nice but simple so I think to be honest I was a bit disappointed as the outside appearance gave us the impression that we were in for a gastronomic meal which sadly is was not. We had an aperitif to start, one glass of wine and one glass of water. Total 110 euros for two people. I would recommend if your passing but I wouldn’t go out of my way to go there."

"I see that there is a wide range of opinions about this restaurant. For us it was great. As many do we chose the Acropole Hotel for our overnight stay partly because it has a restaurant next door and it was a good decision. The lady proprietor/waitress was very welcoming and helpful her English being much better than my French, especially on day 1 of our holiday. The buffet was huge, very varied and very tasty; our mains of Raie and Lamb Gigot were delicious but the deserts didn't quite live up to the previous courses which is why I gave a Very Good rather than an Excellent rating. We had a pitcher of wine each and the total bill was €65; not cheap but reasonable value. We would certainly be happy to eat at La Fontaine again. And yes, the buffet is MUCH better than anything that the Harvester can offer."
