"I see that there is a wide range of opinions about this restaurant. For us it was great. As many do we chose the Acropole Hotel for our overnight stay partly because it has a restaurant next door and it was a good decision. The lady proprietor/waitress was very welcoming and helpful her English being much better than my French, especially on day 1 of our holiday. The buffet was huge, very varied and very tasty; our mains of Raie and Lamb Gigot were delicious but the deserts didn't quite live up to the previous courses which is why I gave a Very Good rather than an Excellent rating. We had a pitcher of wine each and the total bill was €65; not cheap but reasonable value. We would certainly be happy to eat at La Fontaine again. And yes, the buffet is MUCH better than anything that the Harvester can offer."

From the outside, the restaurant looks a little run down. We were staying in the hotel next door and there was little else open in Bernay on a Sunday evening so we decided to risk it. We were pleasantly surprised. The food was great solid French bistro dishes. The service was friendly and efficient. Our waiter was very patient and encouraging when the children wanted to try out their French.

Looked at the reviews and decided to stop at the hotel on site to visit this restaurant. But like going to a downmarket Premier Inn with attached Harvester! All promising as you walk in to see a buffet set out but when you look closely it is all out of a packet or tin. Very pleasant outside area and attentive staff but let down with some rather tasteless meals like the veal awash with some non descript “sauce” meaning it could be anything! Worst thing is when you see ash trays and the next table lights up and you know it is time to get out….
