"After booking for 7 it seems they forgot about us. Rushed a table together in a space that couldn't squeeze a hobbit into, after moving us we sat to eat an waited for my autistic sons separate order of fish fingers and chips, after his food arrived an we was all finally eating the staff kept coming over to us hoping to hurry us up as they had clearly overbooked the restaurant, after the 6th time of a member of staff coming to try an clear the table when we had not finished I'd had enough an left. All they did was put pressure on us to hurry up an eat our food. I'm disgusted the way they also spoke to a couple of paying customers also in the restaurant. I will never recommend or use this restaurant again. Food was substandard and the buffet deserts was non existent. Complete waste of 140 quid!!!!! "My husband and I were staying nearby and needed a gluten free friendly place to eat as I am a Ceoliac. The food is clearly indicated what is gluten free on the menu (this is ALWAYS a winner! I had a burger and it was delicious. My husband had the chicken supreme (also gf and that was 10/10. We liked the food and the vibe of the place so much we booked a table for the next day for Sunday dinner. We ordered the beef roast and honestly it was the best roast dinner I’ve ever eaten out at. Most places don’t even do GF gravy or the potatoes are coated in flour. But the New inn did it all including homemade Yorkshire puddings! Can’t comment on the deserts as we were just too full but they looked delicious. Lastly, the staff were super friendly. We got chatting to the waitress who told us she is the taster for all things GF and dairy free as she has Chrons and she was telling us how important it is to ensure it’s an allergy safe place to eat. Which is the assurance any person with an allergy wants to hear and even the awareness of cross contamination! All pubs need to take note of this! We would be back here in a heartbeat when we are in the area again."

"First time visit based on the high Trip Adviser rating having always gone to the other Indian in Okehampton. I had the tikka biryani. The texture of the chicken was slightly odd, but more of an issue was that rather than the whole dish being cooked together with nicely flavoured rice, the rice must have been fried separately and was coated in grease think pilau rice fried in orange fat. It was also really salty as was the veg curry that came with it. The brinjal bhajee was similarly swimming in grease. None of the food was particularly flavoursome. Upset stomach when I got home. The menu has a vast number of dishes on it they would be far better off slashing the number of dishes and cooking them well. Payment in cash was pretty much demanded at the end with the waiter peering into my wallet very odd. As someone else commented, I wish I had just gone to Weatherspoons!"

"After hearing positive reviews and making a reservation, we were excited to enjoy a nice dinner with friends. Unfortunately, our experience was quite the opposite. We were seated at the bar next to a large, noisy group and felt largely ignored throughout the evening. It took 40 minutes for someone to take our food order, and due to the commotion at the next table, the waiter misheard what I had requested. We weren't offered any desserts, and ultimately, we had to approach the bar to pay our bill, as it seemed we would have been waiting indefinitely otherwise. There was no apology for the subpar service, which left us feeling really disappointed."

"We arent big fish n chips eaters, maybe a couple of times each month .... and we were even less so after trying the fish and chip shops here in our nearest town. adequate ... ish .. but a couple of years ago we were in Okehampton at one of the larger supermarkets and afterwards we called at Kempley 's Catch for a takeaway... what lovely fish and chips they are ... the staff are always pleasant and usually we are greeted with a hello Gail from behind the mask and our order is waiting for us ... lovely people and lovely food ... So now it has become a regular trip up to Okehampton from the Launceston area to visit the supermarket and afterwards call at Kempley 's Catch.."
