Che dire, la vera cotoletta austriaca. Enorme, da far fatica a finirla ma di una leggerezza incredibile. Il locale è spartano ma le cameriere sono molto gentili e disponibili, assolutamente promosso per una cena tipica a Berlino!

nice atmosphere, service was sometimes a bit lavish, berlin hold. but was okay. carving with potato salad was sensational and definitiw a ground to come back. the house wine was excellent, forget which brand it was. I think it's almost all right, and at the end, the taste counts.

Locale molto carino (prenotate soprattutto di sabato perché è facile che sia al completo). Abbiamo mangiato la cotoletta più buona di sempre, enorme tenera con la panatura perfetta il tutto accompagnato da un'insalata di patate superlativa. Servizio veloce e cortese. Prezzo giusto per la qualità e l'abbondanza delle porzioni.

for years I have ignored the old, under the assumption "only another overpriced restaurant in the gentriified bötzowviertel". but you should judge correctly only if you really tried a restaurant - and I did that now. Noi abbiamo ordinato knodel, cotoletta viennese accompagnata da insalata di patate e cetrioli, insalata di crauti, patate fritte; infine una porzione di kaiserschmarren. Che dire? Una cena esplosiva al termine della quale lo stesso cameriere si è complimentato con noi: la wiener schnitzel era infinita (anche se più sottile ed asciutta di quella che si mangia nella capitale austriaca) ed ha richiesto ben due birre medie per essere onorata. My husband and I hadn't decided yet whether to eat at Alt Wien or just have drinks. We went in to have a look around and immediately got told that we'd have to sit outside as everything was booked up. (we weren't asked if we only wanted drinks or eat as well). We decided to have drinks outside. To be fair, the menus came briskly and after our beers arrived we were asked if everything was ok. A little restaurant on a side street off the main drag, this is a superb German/Austrian restaurant with tasty local cuisine. The restaurant itself is typically understated but the staff accommodated us very well, providing us with English menus and speaking decent English, while putting up with my terrible attempts at speaking German. Unlike many reviews on here, we decided against the schnitzel - albeit looking great but enormous - my girlfriend and I had the goulash and we didn't regret it.
