"Wie es so ist im Tessin mindestens einmal in ein schönes Grotto... Bei einer Fahrt mit dem Cabrio haben wir dieses entdeckt und für den Abend reserviert. Bei Ankunft war die Reservation irgendwie vergessen, man wollte uns als Paar an einen runden 6er Tisch setzten danach habe wir dann doch noch einen einigermaßen schönen Tisch bekommen. Als Beilagen gab es Kartoffeln, Risotto und Polenta auf der Karte. Beim Bestellen wurde uns dann mitgeteilt (wir waren sehr früh dort so gegen 8 Uhr und nur wenig Leute) das es weder Risotto noch Polenta mehr gibt Ausverkauft! Hallo? Das in einem Grotto? Nicht mal eine Erklärung dazu, oder das man mit Wartezeit auf ein Risotto warten kann, nichts! Gab es kein Reis mehr? Also ich verstehe das absolut nicht... Die Portion des bestellten Essens war klein, entsprechend schnell war das essen vorbei, der Service war solala. (Danach gingen wir nochmals essen, weil wir noch Hunger hatten.)Die Weinkacheln habe ich mit einem Aschenbecher verwechselt weil die Ränder abgeschlagen waren und die Glasur defekt war an x Stellen. Ein wirklich sehr enttäuschenden Besuch."

Das Essen war ausgezeichnet. Das Personal war ebenfalls sehr freundlich, zuvorkommend und flexibel. Es war ein sehr gemütliches Ambiente trotz des Regens.

Sehr nette Bedienung! Das Essen ist nach typischer Tessiner Art zubereitet und schmeckt sehr lecker. Einzig die Wartezeit war, vor allem für unsere Kinder, etwas lang. Das Grotto ist auf jeden Fall einen Besuch wert.

We wanted to go out to supper and our favorite place Pepe (folks know) was full.so we called and they graciously put a table for 11 inside for us. Very nice and friendly folks who welcomed us all and even got a baby seat right away. Spoke English and had English language menu. Local cuisine but, grandsons disappointed no cornelio aka rabbit. They got their ribs. They were full and happy. Pasta was done well. Apetisers were presented with local goat milk cheese that would melt in your mouth. I would go again.

Am ersten Tag, wurden wir weg geschickt um ca 20.30/21.00 sie hätten zwar noch Platz aber kein essen mehr?? Man müsse unbedingt reservieren. Gesagt getan.Am nächsten Tag.Tisch war nicht bereit obwohl wir dank ÖV verspätung hatten. Erste Bedienung gab sich sehr mühe war freundlich, hat uns wenige Worte erklären müssen welche wir nicht übersetzen konnten. Danach kam sie nicht mehr. Wir wurden lange vor leeren Tellern und Gläsern sitzen gelassen, mussten uns mehrmals melden das wir überhaupt beachtet wurden. Service lief extra weiter weg von uns oder schaute zur anderen Seite, immer und immer wieder.Risotto gab es keines was ich sehr schade fand, das ist für mich Typisch... Ja leider sehr Mange... Grotto just outside Paradiso. Easily accessible with bus 434 from Lugano (or 30 minutes on foot outward from Paradiso, 20 minutes downhill on the return). Friendly welcome. Traditional menu (including 3 types of Polenta). Small slate of seasonal suggestions. Excellent selection of craft beers. Several wines by the glass at reasonable prices. We started with a crosta di Panne which we shared. Very pretty and very good. Then a boletus polenta and a polenta with osso bucco. Perfectly prepared polenta with dark wholemeal polenta. Stopping here was a total shot in the dark for us, and it was marvelous! We were hiking in the area and were on the early side about 18:30. When we stopped in, they greeted us warmly and explained that the kitchen didn't open until 19:00, but that they could set us up with some appetizers. It was an amazing selection. We had a wild boar sausage and a terrine. The staff could not have been nicer, and the place is absolutely cozy! We sat near the grill inside. Pretty soon the whole place filled up with diners. At 19:00, the kitchen opened and they took our dinner orders. For dinner, we had the polenta with pot roast and the pork shin. Everything was so good. We can't wait to go back. The price...

"Me and my husband chose this restaurant to celebrate our 5 year wedding anniversary. We came all the way from USA and I can tell you this place didn't disappoint us. Very nice location, close to the lake and easy to find. We started our 5 course chef's tasting menu from appetizers by chef. It was mix of cheeses in different variations deep fried, cream cheese, cheese truffle and refreshing gazpacho soup. 1.Our first tasting dish were amberjack ceviche with fresh mint, peach and lemon sauce. It was absolutely delightful. 2.Then we had poached egg in creamy pea puree and shaved with Belèer Knolle cheese. It was also one of my favorite dishes because it was so creamy and egg was a great addition to this dish. Also there were Bona crumbles sweet to balance the pea puree. 3. Next Paccheridi Gragnano halves with oriental veal ragout. unfortunately this pasta wasn't my favorite. It was too al dente and I am not used to such a thick uncooked pasta. We ask waiter and he confirmed that's the way it should be. Also too much peanuts overwhelmed the sauce and it felt you are eating sneakers. But I absolutely loved veal ragout sauce, it was rich with flavors and very nicely done. 4.Then our next dish was Red Mediterranean tuna with charcoal, teriyaki mayonnaise, cucumber and puffed rice with seaweed. It was the best cooked tuna that I ever tried. It was so tender and melting on my tongue. 5. Next was perfectly cooked Duck with cherries. I absolutely loved duck, it was cooked to perfection!!! 6. Pre dessert strawberry basil puree to refresh tasting buds and prepare for the dessert. 7. Vanilla cheesecake with apricot and carrot sorbet with prune compote. 8. And complementary truffle selection from Chef to congratulate us with our anniversary. Absolutely best anniversary meal. I also loved that service here was very open and nice. It was my first Michelin star experience and I didn't felt any snobbism, like in other restaurants in Milan for example. Nice presentation, and all dishes were properly described in English for us which is additional plus since my husband doesn't speak Italian. Absolutely worth the trip!"
