"I decided I won't have anything to do with French restaurants, since a shocking programme from the telly the other day saying that 70% of the French restaurants in France serve frozen food. The journalists even went to the length of finding the supplier of these frozen food and found out they provide restaurants a 3.50€ frozen food package for 6 persons. Imagine, six persons go for a French meal of around 20€ per head, the bill in total will be 120€ just the food, not including drinks), but in fact you are eating frozen cheap food worths 0.58€ each. I never like to go to famous restaurants, their reputation always precedes their food. I like the homey one, or this one, run by a few friends, called Helin , a Turkish restaurant, very discreet, very unpretentious, hiding in a corner, but was once being reported by the local newspaper La Provence as the best Turkish food in Marseille, because it's clean, it's price is reasonable, it's foods are tasty etc etc. I ordered my usual grilled chicken wings dish and hubby ordered a doner kebab chicken dish. While waiting for our food to be grilled on the charcoal grilled oven, we were served some quite nice Turkish starters like yoghurt sauce with carrot and tomato bell pepper sauce with home made bread, just have something for nibbling. The chicken wings were juicy and crispy but the doner kebab chicken's a bit salty, both dishes were served with salad, chips and semoule, The portions were very filling, in fact they're so filling that we decided to skip dinner that night."

Perfect and cheap. Real bbq meat. Turkish brothers grew up in Germany and moved to Marseille to surf and have fun. They need the best food to keep on having the life of dream. It's working....

In fact the thing I loved most is the packaging because before it was not at all like that. Otherwise about the kebab I'm not going to start comparing it is enough to fill the belly and I love the bread they put despite the fact that the last one I went there they changed it.

It is regrettable that Helin Kebab does not offer seating places, limiting itself to the sale to take away. The kebab, whether in galette or baguette, proved delicious. However, a more engaged communication of staff, with an increased smile and sympathy at the counter, could have improved the overall experience. Let's hope that these aspects will be taken into consideration to make the atmosphere more welcoming.

We went to have lunch at this nice place as it looked clean from the outside and the waiter at the entrance was really friendly! The food was in fact so good, that we went at the same day for dinner again. Staff is friendly and international (they speak french, turkish, german and some english . We had a kebab and a mixed grill plate which both was delicious and for a good price! Next time in Marseille we will have breakfast there too :
