"This my tenth visit to Paris I had chosen Le Taillevent to be my one top level meal treat, having read Patricia Wells considers it one of, if not the best, restaurant in Paris.Who am I to argue? I was very much looking forward to the three course lunch choice which included two glasses of wine chosen at the sommeliers discretion, cost E104. Top hatted doorman - check. Graciously greeted in the entrance foyer by Madam and escorted to my banquet seat against the wall in the second room - check. Looking at my surroundings I found an elegantly appointed clubby type atmosphere with a mixture of business men, families celebrating and a sprinkling of Americans (myself included) - check. I was content and very happy to be in this subdued, iconic dining spot just behind the Champs Elysees..An apirative flute of champagne started me off nicely accompanied by the amuse bouche of two pastry wrapped mini shrimp along with a quartet of scrumptious gougeres. I ordered the lobster risotto entre, followed by duck breast a L 'orange, both of which were prepared perfectly. With the risotto came a glass of crisp white wine, while a light red accompanied the duck, both well suited to each course. Dessert was Baba aux fruit rouge, one of my favorite choices when in France, as only the French can make it.A pot of tea and a trio of mini pastries brought this meal to a most satisfying conclusion, one of the best I've had in Paris to date. It was just the right amount of food, balanced to perfection, served by a staff of gracious top professionals in lovely surroundings. Patricia Wells, you were right on!I was very comfortable dining solo here and would definitely consider returning when I am once again in my favorite city in the world."

We had wanted to have dinner at Le Taillevent for years, and were still surprised by how extremely it exceeded our expectations. The room itself is beautiful and sophisticated, cool and comfortable on a hot summer evening. The pigeon, the lamb, the crab salad appetizer were all impeccable; the wine list is monumental, but the sommelier was readily able to put in a sensible suggestion. The wait staff made us feel that nothing could have pleased them any more than taking our order and bringing it to us. For the quality of the cuisine and and the entire experience, the price represents an excellent value as well. A landmark experience.

My first visit here and I had high expectations. It was good but it didn't blow me away. I am happy I went but wouldn't rush back as it wasn't good enough to stop me trying new places. We opted for the 7 course tasting menu containing all the house specialities. All the dishes were good but the lamb with cherries and vanilla was incredible. I also liked the pana cotta with basil sorbet - a really refreshing dessert. The menus are only in French but the staff are extremely helpful. The wine list is very extensive so unless you know your stuff best to ask for help. So some great dishes but overall I expected something just a little more special.

Le Taillevent is a Parisian institution worthy of all accolades . I suggest the chef's menu which , on our evening, including caviar, Britanny lobster, duck, truffles and all of the trappings of French elegance. The wine offerings from Burgundy and Bordeaux are nearly unparalleled but I suggest to sit back and allow the Master Sommelier pair with each course. Superb. As I recall, with large pairings of each course, the dinner was about 350 Euro and i rate as a great value. Great for a business dinner, romance, or a night out with 2 or 3 couples. Stands with Per Se and Eleven Madison Park in NYC, but less pretentious than the latter.Book it now!!

This is not the type of restaurant that Mme and M. Feedbag go to regularly, or even hardly ever; partly because the prices are stratospheric and also because we generally like the more down to earth, bistro-type places. However it was recommended by a friend so we dressed up a bit (jackets required for men) and went along, determined to be cheerful and not think about the cost. The amuse-bouche of langoustine was that good, we could have consumed a plateful, although sadly only two little pieces were available. Starters were top-notch, especially the crab remoulade. Mains: turbot was perfect, while the set-menu guinea fowl was perfectly nice while nothing out of the ordinary. Cheeses were ex...
