I admit that my first choice was Nußbaumerin across the road, but it was fully booked so I swapped Austrian cuisine for German. I wasn't disappointed, and I had a very nice meal with a good choice of local dishes. The calf's liver with mash...was particularly nice. I shamefully don't speak any German, but the waiter spoke perfect English and the menu has good English translations. The restaurant and bar seem to be very popular and had a good atmosphere

A really nice restaurant with excellent service and outstanding food. We had the good fortune of eating here during asparagus season and had an outstanding weinerschnitzel with asparagus and an equally good wurst plate. As others have mentioned, arrive with an appetite. This is hearty...German fare with large portions of well prepared food. The deserts were delicious as well. Special shout out to the staff. We were well taken care of by competent and entertaining servers

It was a very strange dinner for me, because I was the only one in the dining room. I had a magnificant dinner of rolled beef stuffed with ham, red cabbage, and a boiled potato sort of a dumpling, all covered with a dark gravy....I probably should have asked for the gravy on the side, but that was my error. I found the entire meal VERY tasty, and VERY German, and that's good. I dine when I travel to experience the culture, that is very important. The waiter was super, very kind. All the reviews led us to believe that this would be a great example of German cuisine and hospitality so we booked it as our special Berlin Wedding Anniversary meal. Firstly the waiter was plainly in a hurry to get us to order and wasn't...best pleased when we ordered aperitifs. We ordered starters and main courses and a bottle of white wine to go with it. Ten minutes later the waiter brought a single glass of white wine. We explained that we wanted a bottle and minutes later that arrived the cabaret was him trying to assemble the wine cooler...
