"We love the Place du Forum, whether for a drink or a meal. It has a great atmosphere and is a wonderful place to pass time people-watching. During our recent week stay in Arles, we ate twice at Mon Bar. As we frequently do, my husband and I shared a large salad, a main course, and a dessert, more than enough to satisfy two appetites. Both times we had the same entree and dessert, because we just loved them. The Salade Exotique included some field greens, heaped with avocado, heart of palm, coconut, tomato, and other delights! Delicious!! The dessert we loved was pear in a salted caramel sauce. OMG! I am a chocoholic and almost never stray from that if I have dessert--and to do so two times tells you something about this dish! For the main course, one night we had a wonderful, tasty chicken in curry sauce and the other night a pork dish, less memorable, but good. Our waiter was friendly and witty. At first he teased us (or so we thought, our French being less than fluent) about sharing the dishes, but later even worked out giving us one of the rates for a formule (prix fixe) even though our choices didn't exactly fit into the offer for that menu. Inexpensive, delicious food."

We went there every morning to start the day with a good cup of coffee. It's the place to observe and join the morning rituals of the local people.

The wine menu is quite good for a small shop. The owner is a hoot. Locals hang out here, if you are lucky enough to get a table outside the people watching is grand.

Lorenzo very cheerily welcomed us to the restaurant so much so that we couldn't say no as we were reviewing the menu! Lovely lunch here with an older gentleman playing the saxophone in the square.

The three of us ate at Mon Bar on our last night in Arles. The place was packed, so the service was a little slow, but we were happy to sit in the square, chat and drink wine. The food was plentiful, nice and good value. Visualizza piatti

Enjoyed lunch here on the square. Good seafood selections and good service. English speaking server & host. Be aware of locals here too at lunch so can get very crowded and expect lots of cigarette smoking and smoke. It's my opinion most everyone in France smokes and smokes often, especially outside restaurants and out door dining.

I wrote my film script outside their cafe last month and they let me sit there for hours with my dog. They were welcoming and friendly. I found Mon Bar perfect for watching people go by and thinking about life and the universe. The food was great too. I'll definitely be back in a couple of months to finish what I started there. Thanks Guys x

With a number of what seemed to be good options in the plaza by the Van Gogh 'Yellow Cafe", we decided on Mon Bar, partly because they had nice mister fans going and it was over 90 in the shade! Our server turned out to be a fun, if not a little smart alec and charmed the lady's with songs and reparte'. The food was great and especially theTartar was awesome. Friends from Montpellier (locals) to meet us as it was our first visit to this part of France, and they were very impressed! I highly recommend. Visualizza piatti

We were traveling all over South of France, and we stopped at Mon Bar for lunch with our friends. We are American and were treated so nicely. The food was very good, and the wine to. Lorenzo was the best!!! He made our day....we laughed, joked, he helped understand the menu, he even sang a song, even though it was Rick Springfield, hahaha!!!We highly recommend this restaurant for a good time, good food, and maybe some good entertainment from Lorenzo.Hope to be back soon!!! So walking around Arles not the greatest data connection on your phone. The waiter see's your looking with TripAdvisor and then points at the 4 star rating this restaurant has. If it has 4 stars then something should be ok, right?it wasn't :(In hind sight it became worst. The prices are ok for an entrecote and some fries but if the French cannot even season an entrecote then what is the world coming to. The requested rare steaks where more medium but as we where hungry we ate it. The wine was ok. Services limited. But then you want to pay with your bank card. On this specific day the machine broke down if I wanted to use the ATM 10 meters away. Ok, can happen off course. Can I have the receip...

"This restaurant is part of a hotel in a very impressive 16th century building. It looks very classy. However, the night we were there, there must have been some serious problems in the kitchen (or maybe it is always like that . We started with a shared plate of charcuterie which took a long time to arrive – how long does it take to arrange the cold meats on a plate? We then waited a very, very long time for our main courses. While waiting, we saw a dispute at another table involving the maître d’ and resulting in plates going back to the kitchen. We had both ordered duck à l’orange which came with Camargue rice. The rice appeared to have been baked in the oven and was so crisp and dry that it resembled a cereal bar. The ‘orange’ was not the usual sauce, but instead was four cubes of orange that appeared to have been scorched on a grill. They added nothing to the dish. It had been suggested that we should share a side of seasonal vegetables. These turned out to be big chunks of boiled potatoes (with rice! , a boiled root vegetable and a couple of dry artichokes. We had interchanges with two servers and the maître d – all were cold and brusque. We lived in France for more than 20 years and appreciate the fact that the French like to take their time with meals, but there is a big difference between leisurely and glacially slow. Perhaps we were there on a bad night, others seem to have had a better experience."
