Osteria Baralla Lucca

Ate here twice while in Lucca. It was better for lunch than for dinner, although it was fantastic both times.

Came on a Wednesday night, was seated right away. Nice ambiance, especially the rustic brick walls. Had the Ravioli and it was delicious! Never had authentic ravioli so I'm thinking this was it. The red wine was a great supplement to the dish.

È sempre bene fidarsi di una raccomandazione di un locale. È esattamente ciò che ho fatto quando ho incontrato questo uomo a Fillungo che mi ha consigliato l'Osteria Baralla. Il vino e la pasta erano deliziosi e sono stati un pranzo perfetto per una giornata perfetta a Lucca.

Certificato di eccellenza sulla porta ma ad essere onesti, il cibo non è molto estraneo e complesso. Amavo la zuppa locale ma il salmone che ho ordinato era molto fondamentale e senza alcuna complessità che si può sperimentare nella cucina toscana. Anche il Risotto di mia moglie non era molto eccitante.

This place was just ok. Nothing special about it in the food, ambience, or service. I had the risotto with shrimp which in retrospect may not have been the best choice, but it was bland and mushy. However, if something is not what the chef makes well, don't include it on the menu. The prices were reasonable and the portions were generous. I didn't finish all the food on my plate because it left me unfulfilled.

Tutto di questo ristorante mi è piaciuto. L'atmosfera, il servizio, l'ambiente, la storia. Ma soprattutto il PESTO fatto in casa che è senza dubbio il MIGLIORE pesto che abbia mai assaggiato. Non riesco nemmeno a descrivere la intensa ricchezza del pesto. Al primo morso, i miei occhi si sono rovesciati all'indietro nella mia testa e le mie papille gustative erano in paradiso. Il nome ufficiale del ristorante è Osteria Baralla, è stato fondato nel 1860 e si trova nel distretto medievale di Lucca.

20 luglio 2022: Ottima cena nel bel mezzo di Lucca, Italia. Ecco il resoconto dettagliato... Il servizio è stato eccellente. Il mio piatto era Asiago con funghi. Proprio il mio genere. Delizioso. Il mio piatto principale era un tipico piatto toscano di manzo stufato con pepe nero, erbe e salsa di pomodoro con polenta. Indescrivibilmente delizioso. Umido, tenero e squisito. Penso che questa sia stata la migliore cena che abbia mai avuto in Italia! Perdo una stella perché i ravioli del mio compagno di cena erano salati e al dente, non proprio come li preferisce lei. Farei sicuramente di nuovo questa scelta.

This was our first dinner here in Lucca, and my grandma's first authentic Italian dinner. We were recommended this restaurant and so far nothing else has been able to live up to it! The food was excellent and reasonably priced and the overall ambiance was comfortable yet sophisticated. The interior had a truly authentic feel. As for the food we had an antipasti of prosciutto and fresh cheese, a primi of shrimp and artichoke pasta, and several exceptional desserts. We opted for 1/4 liter of the White House wine and it was the perfect amount for two people to share. The staff was all very friendly and welcoming. We plan to return here one more time before our stay in Lucca is over!

Every region in Italy has its own unique regional dishes, and we chose Baralla specifically for the farro bean soup, which is well known in Lucca and throughout Tuscany. As it turns out, the traditional bean soup was beyond excellent, and so was everything else.
