"Have wanted to try Stones restaurant for years now. We were there for the new winter 2023 menu. Lovely staff, great service, incredibly attentive. Amazing food, loved the canapés that were given throughout the courses, a lovely special extra touch. The salt-baked beetroot starter was insanely good, hitting all the taste buds of classic salt, sour, creamy, crunchy *chefs kiss*. The trio of pork main was also dreamy and my partner had the beef which he said was gorgeous. Desserts were great, and coffee lovely. We will definitely be back. Thank you. "On entering, we were totally ignored by the owner. We had to ask if we should be seated, and then it took about 5 minutes for the other staff member to clear the table and she didn 't wipe it clean. We weren 't greeted or smiled at, or offered options by either of the staff. Despite the fact that there were only four tables of people in the cafe, we had to wait 20 minutes for coffee and cake. The coffee and cake, to be fair, was OK. However, when we went to pay, the extremely miserable cafe owner didn 't make eye contact or smile or really acknowledge us at all. Sad as the products they were selling were pretty good, but the ambience and 'welcome ' were miserable. I really don 't like criticising a small business, but I did feel like walking out soon after we arrived. The only thing that kept us that there was little other choice in the village, although the new take out place down the road looked good, and it was only the threat of heavy rain which prevented us from sitting out on their chairs (they have very little indoor space). All in all, sadly, quite a miserable experience. Sorry but you need to up your game in the hospitality business."

"Shared a lovely meal here with my friend. Hadn't been here for years we were not disappointed. Booked online had quick reply, staff friendly welcoming, very cosy pub atmosphere, everyone was having a good time, very nice that dogs are allowed in they were very well behaved. I had chicken curry with rice nan could of had chips, or half rice half chips, which was a nice choice) the curry was full of flavours not dry at all as some can be, rice was very fluffy light. my friend had sausage, veg giant Yorkie, choice of mash or chips, she had chips, it was a very large portion, we both enjoyed our meals. The menu was quite a wide choice for saying it's a small pub, we both had lemon meringue for pudding, it was lovely lemony in the middle, the meringue was soft not hard which was different as mine always go rock hard. The young girl who served us was marvellous, she was taking food orders, bringing food out serving the bar, that's multi tasking !! We have now booked a group Xmas meal in December which has realy good choice. Looking forward to our next visit. Thank you."

"During a day trip to Matlock, we stumbled upon Viva Italian. We didn't have a reservation, but they were able to accommodate us. The restaurant had a lovely ambiance, with friendly and helpful staff. The food was exceptional, with delicious flavors and beautiful presentation. We will definitely be returning, but next time we will make sure to book in advance so we don't miss out."

"We called to let them know we were running late on Friday night and checked TripAdvisor for somewhere with good reviews. After booking online, we were greeted warmly upon our arrival. The room was very clean and beautifully furnished to a high standard. We were in need of food, and the menu offered a wide range of options. We started with garlic mushrooms and crab as appetizers, followed by a pasta dish with chorizo in a creamy sauce. For dessert, we had lemon cheesecake with orange, which was some of the best I've had in a long time. I was truly impressed; the quality of the food felt Michelin-star level but at pub prices! The breakfast was fantastic as well. Will we be returning to the Greyhound? Absolutely, 100%! Oh, and I almost forgot to mention their great selection of gins too."
