great restaurant, friendly staff. large terrace with places in the sun and in the shade, but protected from the wind. good eating, good beer. beautiful location next to the beautiful nauener tor.

Potsdam itself is lovely, very nice and good restauration work going on all the time, and Petite Pauline is a little and very nice "café" and their flammkuchen is worth waiting for. We will come back, thanks for this sitting in a lovely march sun

still enjoying the afternoon in this nice gate cafe of france, sit in outside with a glass of alterwasser and enjoying the sun. was here for dinner last night, order a pasta which is great and spargel with salmon which is really tasty.the services is really nice, smile from the waiters really makes our day

On a walking tour of Potsdam we had a choice of where to eat. I'm very glad we chose Petite Pauline. The food was excellent. My salmon and potatoes was to die for and my friend enjoyed his taglietelli. Our waitress spoke very good English and I learned she had spent 5 months in Australia. Her "no worries" comment when we thanked her was a give away. Petite Pauline is located just near one of the Gates to the old city of Potsdam and has a lovely view down the old city street scape. We had a delightful meal at this little restaurant on a Square in Potsdam. We each had a pasta dish with chicken, and the food was excellent. It also was a good value, we thought. The waiter was quite friendly and patient with our halting attempts at German. The setting is quite pleasant, as we sat outside on a warm summer evening. The only drawback for an American traveler is the number of people smoking (including one cigar smoker), but you just learn to deal with it. And if you really can't stand the smoke, you can always eat inside.

We loved this small and cosy French restaurant, which has an open kitchen on the left of the entry, and some tables on the right, simple bistro atmosphere yet extremely comfortable and cosy, conversation easy. It is located inside the historic Nauener Tor, an old city gate, which is a most interesting venue. We stopped in for lunch (Flammkuchen) while sightseeing, and we were so pleased that we reserved for dinner that night. Which was a great idea. I had Coq au Vin, my husband Boeuf Bourguignon, both were very tasty, as were the desserts and cognac. The service was efficient and very friendly, all in all a highly recommendable restaurant, great prices.

It is said to be a restaurant of French specialities (and it is true that they have some excellent French dishes in their list), but the main attraction is the selection of "Flammkuchen" (tarte flambée in French, a kind of Alsatian pizza) a perfect light meal for cold winter evenings. A nice decoration with pictures of French actresses, painters and celebrities make you feel in Paris while being within the walls of the historical Nauener Tor. Sarkozy's portrait on the way to the toilets is the only tasteless point to notice. The service is friendly and efficient, prices are quite reasonable and the desserts are quite tempting.
