Popped in, hoping to get a drink and warm up after a walk from Wansford. We were early, but they were more than happy to make us coffee and hot chocolates. Friendly staff and pup was happy too Service: 5 Location: 5

we didn't think we'd go on Saturday before Christmas, especially without booking before, so we were pleasantly surprised to see a table in half an hour. we were always attracted by the Queen’s head steak offerings, and when we saw the Cotes...de boeuf, we had to try. 1.6kg bone rib steak (approx. 56 oz) for 2 to share (for 3 or even 4 to be too honest) grilled to perfection, with a Spanish Josper cohlegrill (only 30 in the country, including gordon ramseys and heston blumenthals.) unfortunately we couldn't manage a starter or a desert. beautiful location, excellent service, very friendly staff. would be very welcome and will soon be back.

Seems like this place has good reviews. First impressions are ok. No one for check in available, note on the door, with a list of names and keys in each door.. bit odd but it worked. Paid extra for breakfast £10, not worth it in my opinion, I stay in alot of places and the service at breakfast, with what was served isn't good. Room smells musty, but clean, shower tap for heat fell off. Woke up with no electric lights at all working. The room was a little run down but clean, carpet could do with changing and looks thread bare in places. Seems a nice village location and gardens to the pub. Rooms: Bit run down. But clean. Wow, what a find! Rocked up late on a Saturday hoping to relax with a beer, and good to see a local Nene Valley brewery on cask. Was absolutely starving after a long drive from Manchester, and asked for a pork pie more in hope than everything else. Was astonished when the friendly new owner said he could knock up braised beef, mash and peas, especially as last orders had already been called. This proved to be delicious and just what was needed. Can't thank the owner enough for going the extra mile at this late time. Room was great, with lovely views over the lake, and squirrels going about their business as the sun rose. All the rooms were step free too, ideal for those with mobility problem...

that was a meal for 10 people on a trip. the first email contact was answered immediately, but 2 more emails went unanswered unanswered unanswered unanswered following phone calls, although these were both professional and reassuringly fielded. the menu on the website is just an example (it says so on the pdf, but could be more clear on the website) but it was exhausting to select the selected meal times that were selected in advance and that no longer on the current menu. the bar staff was very helpful and engaged well with the customers, especially the young lady, who was a real credit for the institution. the cook was also very well spoken. the food was good, but I am glad that mine did n...
