Retrogusto - Piatti

Newly arrived in Verona we were just about to check out the car and get going. But hunger... Retro gusto is a small place but with great Italian food executed well. I loved the Gnocchi and we got perfect service.

Great place for special occasions, it is located at walking distance from the centre of Verona, quite small, better to reserve a table. Usually there is something outside the menù, I tried Patanegra filet which was just great and another time gnocchetti with capesante (scallops) on bur rata. There is a wide selection of wines. I couldn't enjoy it because I don't like wine but it looks good. A bit too expensive.

We visited Verona in October 2018 and spent 5 days there. Our apartment was across the street from Retrogusto, so we had the opportunity to visit this restaurant for breakfast, lunch, happy hour and dinner on various days throughout our visit. Solitamente vado al Retrogusto quando lavoro a Verona, soprattutto perché ogni giorno a pranzo fanno una buona promozione: 5 euro per un piatto di pasta o risotto con caffè, quindi l'unica cosa che devi pagare è la bevanda. E di solito cucinano molto bene con ricette interessanti. Una volta abbiamo avuto un problema con la prenotazione ma ora va bene. Non sorridono molto mentre servono il cibo, ma questo non è un problema.

Questo ristorante era di fronte al nostro hotel, quindi siamo entrati per provare il cibo e siamo stati piacevolmente sorpresi che facessero il cibo a nostro piacimento. Ho chiesto una Carbonara che non era sul menu ma che è stata cucinata per me, meraviglioso! Poi ci siamo seduti fuori e abbiamo preso qualche drink, il ristorante chiudeva piuttosto presto intorno alle 22. Davvero merita una visita, ci siamo trovati benissimo.

The deli part of this is too dangerous for me. We started off with a plate of cheeses and meats my travel partner had never tasted before. The poor youngster thinks he's led a sheltered life. The trip downstairs was to a very upscale restaurant. All I can tell you i that the food was extremely well prepared, was amazingly tasty and unusual in that the menu choices were interestingly put together. very clever. Service was absolutely excellent as was the wine selection. All in all, not the cheapest but highly recommended for a good dinner Visualizza piatti

Seemed like a nice place when we walked in and were seated. Food and wine menu was extensive, including selection of cold meats and cheeses which we were looking forward to sampling. However, right after placing our order, we noticed the cook coughing away in the kitchen without taking any care to shield the food he was preparing. We mentioned it to our server, who called out the cook, who in turn explained he wasn't sick, but just had a bad case of seasonal allergies however, allergies or not, he still shouldn't be coughing over the food he is preparing. I had a word with the owner, who was accomodating enough and allowed us to change our order and switch out our salad and cheese plate item...
