"I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Anchorage in Tarbert Argyll, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. This hidden gem of a restaurant deserves all the praise it can get. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The Anchorage is a seafood lover's paradise. Their commitment to serving the freshest and most delectable seafood is truly commendable. The scallops and mussels I had were delicious. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, they melted in my mouth with each bite. The quality of the seafood alone is reason enough to visit this establishment. What impressed me even more was the changing menu specials board. The Anchorage takes pride in offering a diverse selection of dishes that cater to various preferences. It was refreshing to see their dedication to incorporating seasonal ingredients and presenting innovative creations. The anticipation of discovering what new delights awaited me on the specials board added an element of excitement to my dining experience. The intimate size of the restaurant added to its charm. "We decided to give this restaurant a try as everyone raved about it, but we were very disappointed. Firstly, we ordered paninis and received sandwiches with fillings instead. The mac and cheese was overcooked with an overwhelming amount of paprika. We also ordered scones with cream and jam, but the scone was dry, the cream tasted synthetic, and there was only a small dollop of jam with no butter. Throughout our meal, we did not receive any pleasantries like "please" or "thank you." Despite requesting no salad, it was still included on our plates without being acknowledged. No staff members came by to check if our food was satisfactory. Overall, we felt that the £48 we spent was not worth it."

"Being the only Indian restaurant in area, they seem to think service and quality doesn’t matter.Popped in for a dinner, kinda wish I hadn’t as we went in, it took quite a while for any one to come over , because the staff were busy chatting and texting on phones.Eventually we were greeted with a grunt no smile, and directed if you can call it directed to a table it was a point , with out even looking at us.The food when it eventually came out appeared to have been microwaved as it was hot on out side but cold inside, the sauce was bubbling around edges of dish but Luke warm every where else."

"You wouldn't think that cooking and serving a portion of fish chips is difficult. Apparently it is in Tarbert! We decided to give this place another chance, as our previous experience wasn't very good. We ordered fish chips, and were served some form of slimy white substance wrapped in a pale wet oily handkerchief, with some greasy cold potato wedges on the side. There was some green mush spread over the plate which (we assumed) was supposed to be originating from peas. I sent my meal back to be cooked, and when it was returned the result wasn't much of an improvement. clearly the microwave wasn't working We felt sorry for the young waitress whilst very pleasant, she could only make the excuse that the place was busy. When serving food, every meal coming out of the kitchen should be of an adequate standard. We suggest that you bring your own picnic instead of paying good money for slop!"

"Arrived ready for a evening meal only to be told they weren't serving, this meant we had to source a meal else where! Breakfast was only just fair, portion size small, coffee strength weak. Room was clean enough, TV good selection, ensuite very small. Taking all into consideration I think the asking price was way too high, £100/95 with discount."
