"Arrived near end of breakfast rush and place was busy for dine in and take out. Happily shared a table with another couple, table service was nice touch considering the queue for take out. Loads of choice and came quickly. Really tasty well cooked breakfast and delicious coffee. Ended up taking some fabby fresh cakes away for later too. Parking: Right on harbour side directly outside cafe. Wheelchair accessibility: Big step down into cafe but I'm sorry I didn't check if there is a ramp available. "I recently had the pleasure of dining at The Anchorage in Tarbert Argyll, and I must say, it was an absolute delight. This hidden gem of a restaurant deserves all the praise it can get. From the moment I stepped inside, I was captivated by the warm and inviting atmosphere. The Anchorage is a seafood lover's paradise. Their commitment to serving the freshest and most delectable seafood is truly commendable. The scallops and mussels I had were delicious. Cooked to perfection and bursting with flavour, they melted in my mouth with each bite. The quality of the seafood alone is reason enough to visit this establishment. What impressed me even more was the changing menu specials board. The Anchorage takes pride in offering a diverse selection of dishes that cater to various preferences. It was refreshing to see their dedication to incorporating seasonal ingredients and presenting innovative creations. The anticipation of discovering what new delights awaited me on the specials board added an element of excitement to my dining experience. The intimate size of the restaurant added to its charm. "We decided to give this restaurant a try as everyone raved about it, but we were very disappointed. Firstly, we ordered paninis and received sandwiches with fillings instead. The mac and cheese was overcooked with an overwhelming amount of paprika. We also ordered scones with cream and jam, but the scone was dry, the cream tasted synthetic, and there was only a small dollop of jam with no butter. Throughout our meal, we did not receive any pleasantries like "please" or "thank you." Despite requesting no salad, it was still included on our plates without being acknowledged. No staff members came by to check if our food was satisfactory. Overall, we felt that the £48 we spent was not worth it."

"Maybe today was just the wrong day, but we had high expectations due to reviews. It turned out to be the greatest disappointment we ever had in eating in Scotland for almost 10 years Reception not unwilling, but no real time for customers due to lack of staff and tight schedule of reservations. Service hectic, unprofessional, no willingness to talk to us (foreign tourists not welcome? Noticed this also at other tourist tables... . Locals were told the whole board of specials, we had to go to the board. The restaurant absolutely crowded, damned hot and without any fresh air. Wine overpriced, quality of dishes less than average, not the level one would expect in regard to prices. Starters: Cullen Skink average and lukewarm, scallops also lukewarm and seemed to be not really fresh, not cooked to the point, pancetta not crispy but soggy. Mains should have been a half lobster. Well, served without appropriate cutlery, lukewarm and tough. In addition, masses of garlic chilli paste killed the flavour completely. This was the point where we left, Without having eaten mains we were just fed up!"

"The rooms are clean and affordable, and the owners are incredibly friendly. The dining room offers a fantastic view of the harbor, and the selection of single malts is excellent. The food is some of the best I've ever had—the seafood cake was simply amazing! I wish I could enjoy some right now!"
