"We booked a table for 8 people on Saturday, 21.05, to have a dinner before the football final. It is absolutely usual that on football days one waits for food longer, so we ordered and started talking. After 40 (!) minutes of waiting, when my guests got their small pre-dinner salads, we started to worry: what can take a restaurant more than 40 minutes to get a pizza ready? Do they hunt our beef and go to the fish market for our shrimps? Imagine that: after more than 1 hour which we (six people) have been patiently waiting, the waitress came and served the food to 2 of our 8 guys, who came later and ordered just 15 minutes ago! We ran to the manager, who told us that we “have been just forgotten and need to wait for the food for another 20 minutes”. Of course, we have collected our things, cancelled our orders and went to pay: do you think, the restaurant has apologized? Probably, has taken expenses of coffee that we have been sipping for more than 1 hour? No way, they EVEN MADE US PAY 1.5 EUR FOR STILL WATER! If you go with a large group of people, look for a different restaurant – sorry, I can’t tell you if the food in Taverna Romana is tasty, because WE DID NOT GOT IN 1+ HOUR!"

Avoid. Unpleasant service from both waiters we saw, we felt unwelcome. Felt as though they wanted our money but without giving and of the service or effort. No attempt at pleasantries whatsoever.

I really had a nice afternoon at Taverna Romana ! "Ciorba de burta" was delicious and the service very good. I’d recommend it to anyone not just for its food but also for its relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

My dad and I were lost in Hamburg, looking for a restaurant, when we came across Taverna Romana.The service was excellent and the food delicious. We will never forget the place and the very friendly owners we talk to before leaving.A place to go !

My friends and I came here on a rainy night before a musical, and it was amazing. We haven't felt so welcomed anywhere else in Europe! There is such a family atmosphere, and the staff is incredibly helpful. The menu has so many options and everything we ate was amazing!

Can't say enough GREAT things about this restaurant; the atmosphere, food and especially the family that owns it. We stopped in not sure where we were headed for dinner. Met the owners and the chef and their menu is..... Extensive. Great Hungarian dishes - goulash was sick - and seafood dishes to die for. Pork was amazing as well. Large place - super friendly. Say hi to the owners and their son: he knows hospitality. Stop by next time you're in Idaho!!

A beautiful place. The owners come from Greece and Hamburg.Greek and Italian food is served. So it may happen that they offer you an Ouzo after you had a pizza. You can find German and Hamburg food also. The staff is nice, I know most of them since a lot of years.Clean Toilets. The place can be crowded of there's a football match on TV, I normally avoid going there then. The smoking area in the rear part has no door so you can really get lots of smoke on some days.

Let's put it this way: what would change a traveller's mood after a day of waking in the cold wind of Hamburg? One thing would be finding a welcoming, warm, traditional and (on top of everything) cheap taverna!Everything was excellent, from the prompt service to the warm atmosphere, excellent, really tasty food (please try their secret "Ciorba de afumatura"! simply fabulous!!) and everything at a price that make you wonder how is it possible?!?Yup! Hamburg seems/looks much much friendlier to me ever since Taverna Romana happened!
