"Everywhere else was full so we tried the Rhydypennau. Was told to be there at 1pm but would have to eat in the bar. Not a problem. Got there at 1pm seated immediately but then 20 mins before we could order drinks. Lucky, as we were just about to walk out. But then another 15 mins before we could go to carvery. Food wise average. All the meat seems to be pre booked and pre sliced. No joints of meat carved in front of you. It tasted ok, but not more than that. Veggies not a bad selection, but all over cooked. A few choices had run out. Sauces all run out except for gravy. But the gravy was good. Very good! Service all the staff were very friendly and nice, but it felt more like a cafe. And service was far too slow. Go again? Yes, but not our first choice. The standard of food was average. There are much better places that charge the same price and with much quicker service. We would rather go to them."

"We stopped by for lunch on a Monday, there were 4 humans and 3 dogs and all of us were given a very warm welcome. All of us were well catered for The food was tasty and portions were good (so much so not needed anything this evening). Everything was freshly cooked and presented really nicely. The dogs side order of bacon with fresh water was scoffed with enthusiasm too. We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal, the ambience and the staff's hospitality. I couldn't recommend it highly enough, there is lounge seating and a balcony upstairs while downstairs there are tables with a wide range of seating as well as outdoor seating at the front of this wonderful cafe. Stop by the menu is diverse and veggies are catered for too. What's not to like, I'll definitely be popping by next time I'm in Borth."

"Set on the high Street but behind you is the sea and beach. It's a dog friendly pub which is great for us. You can sit on the lower terrace or the upper terrace, which when open has a bar up there as well. We opted to sit inside, and first to be served was our dog with a bowl of water. Staff so friendly. We opted for simple fish and chips but a small portion. Food was good, service good. Price wise, very reasonable at £7.95..Opted for a pint of Stowford cider and the whole lot was just over £20. All in all a nice place to drop in"

"Excellent food, very friendly staff and well priced. Ended up going back several times as the food was so good. (Jayne even added extra to the chicken curry so I enjoyed it even more) can't recommend enough. "Myself and my wife visited whilst in Borth. We went to the bar and whilst a man behind the bar said hello he otherwise ignored us and proceeded to serve a local who walked in after us. Another barman appeared and I asked him if they were serving food and from what time. He said he had no idea and suggested we went to another area of the pub to find out. I them ordered a pint of Butty Bach and the barman returned with a half pint. After that I gave up and took my business elsewhere on the basis I the locals take priority over strangers 2 staff have no knowledge of the business they are running and 3 staff do not listen to customers. So don't expect a nice welcome or good service at the Railway Inn in Borth, as you will be disappointed on both counts. In my humble opinion, the management of this pub need to have a bit of a rethink about their approach to first time customers. We left before we had the opportunity to try either their food or the real ale on offer, so cannot comment on either."
