"Swedish angle to a good menu. Starters were good but a little expensive for what they were. Mains were the best course of the evening. My venison was exceptional. Desert was the weakest dishes of the evening. Small but well chosen wine list, though again a little pricey. Service was engaging and the room comfortable. Overall a recommendation and difficult to beat anywhere in Wargrave, Henley or Twyford."

"Such a shame as the Food was outstanding, however we were not made to feel very welcome, the staff were quite awkward. One of us ordered a main which didn't come with any side, this should have been mentioned when placing the order and a side should have been offered, when our food arrived and this was queried and we were told that it doesn't come with a side At just gone on a Saturday night, the fire exit door was locked open, our table was in direct line with the door and we had a cold draught (it's February). This meant that we did not stay for coffee and we asked for the bill. We did mention this to the staff when we left and was told that it was opened as it gets smoky from the fire, however the fire was not even lit. For this caliber of restaurant and food, we would have expected much better service especially as this was charged at If the service would have been more friendly and accommodating then we would have had an evening to remember for the right reasons."

"We arrived knowing it would be an expensive dinner, as we were looking forward to a nice meal out. I ordered the tuna tartare and wild venison, while my partner chose the duck liver pâté and pork. For dessert, we had chocolate fondue. My starter was intriguing but needed a bit more salt. When my main dish arrived, it was warm; the waiter explained that venison is meant to be served red and is cooked at a medium temperature. My partner enjoyed both his starter and main course. The dessert was okay, but overall, I was left disappointed due to the lack of a wow factor. It's a shame because I really wanted to love this dinner and hope to return."

"A lovely, modern but quaint, little gastro pub with outdoor dining. It was our first venture out post lockdown, and with a 1 month old at that. The staff were all fantastic, very attentive and caring. When we arrived they (without prompting) gave us a table with a bit more privacy and in a quiet area for the little one with space to leave the pram. The menu is simple but delicious. We highly recommend their smoked salmon starter. There really is only one (logical) choice of main and that's the steak. Various cuts available with some priced by weight. Our steaks were cooked just how we liked them and the sauces available were delicious (we had the peppercorn sauce and the red wine and bone marrow sauce). There was only one dessert that caught our eye on the menu and this was the Chocolate and Bailey's Delice. We were glad we shared this between us as it was huge. It was amazing and a perfect dish to finish off the meal. We'll definitely be coming back again soon."

"Went to the Bird in Hand for one of their Friday music nights with friends and took my little dog we both couldn't have been made more welcome! The food was excellent, there was a great selection of wine, a lovely pint of Guinness and even a doggy menu. One of the people I was with is really finicky with his food but they went out of their way to make sure that his was cooked just as he liked it and even laid on the exact wine he wanted. The live music was great fun with some fantastic audience participation and really added to the night. I didn't stay but the rooms looked great and it's got really nice outdoor space with plenty of cover if the British weather decides to do its thing. Like others, I'm sure I'll be back!"
