"my wife and I spend about 3 months in northumberland, visit a series of beauty spots, historical sites and equally important to look for great restaurants. our internet research and talks with locals led us to the old boat house in...Amble to lunch. the location of the restaurant (right on the coast) and near a series of interesting huts that houses a lot of objects was immediately attractive. this was given by entering into the restaurant and a very warm welcome by the staff and a table directly on the harbour. all very positiw, but this was just the prelude for some amazing food. we chose the common seafood plate – a huge wooden tablet with a whole lobster, perfectly cooked sea crumbs, lindisfarne oysters, roll mop herings, smoked makrele, hot cold smoked salmon, shetland mussels and delicious broken fish goujons roy pawns with delicious freshly baked freshly baked we would have stopped (should) after this amazing display of delicious food, but we ended the order of desserts – they were also delicious and glad that we did not leave. we can recommend a visit to the old boat house for a culinary extravaganza!"

"Visited The Red Lion on two occasions while staying in Alnmouth, on a Monday and Thursday evening. The staff were consistently efficient, helpful, friendly and so welcoming. The food was of a very high standard and the Bailey's cheese cake was absolutely amazing....the best ever!"

"I love my seafood and whilst visiting Amble in Northumberland, Jasper’s Bistro did not disappoint. My family and I were welcomed at around as an opportunist walk-in (in the future I will book in advance) and we’re lucky enough to get seated and fabulously...fed in the lull before dinner. We ordered seafood dishes from the specials board and the a la carte which included lindisfarne oysters, squid with garlic, mussels in a garlic and cream sauce to start and we followed this with lobster with garlic and anchovy tapenade, whole crab salad, beer battered monkfish with twice cooked chunky chips -all beautifully presented, cooked to perfection and tasting fabulous and in my case, washed down by local beer. Nothing was too much trouble for our server with kids trying lobster for the first time (big success btw) extra plates, tools, napkins were all helpfully provided. No hesitation in recommending this little gem of a restaurant from our experience today!"

"Lovely medium size cafe, very clean and inviting with good space around the tables. Modern decor and furniture but with plenty of old world features like the beamed ceiling and stone fireplace. Warm welcome from the staff and food served in a timely manner but it was early in the service and quiet at the time. Coffees were very good and hot, the mince pies were home made and warmed before being served which really brought out the flavour of the fruit filling. The food menu looked interesting and would definitely return on another visit to Alnmouth."

"I booked a table for two for an evening meal. The main course, beef casserole was appetising and well presented although I thought it a little overpriced. The ‘average’ rating comes as a result of the indifferent service provided by the host. We had barely sat down and not even looked at the drinks selection when we were asked what we wanted to drink. We said we weren’t ready to order. Our host was quickly back again and from this moment onwards we felt pressure to eat, drink and vacate the table quickly. We were still eating and drinking when the bill was put onto the table, this act was very annoying, it means pay up and leave! I felt the service might have been better if we were regulars and not ‘passing trade’."
