"A great find on our way to the Reclaimation Yard. Buffet starter, main which today was beef with boiled potatoes, great choice of deserts, cheese, wine and coffee for Busy with many workmen which is always a good recommendation,. Super basic well cooked food, even plastic table cloths and super value loved it!!"

"I agree with people about the somewhat cold welcome from the staff, however when you chat a little they are still receptive. The restaurant is worth the detour. As we were passing through we stopped. The prices are more than fair for a cuisine worthy of a semi-gastronomic restaurant. Being used to catering because we are in the profession and above all we love eating in restaurants, my chef really deserves that we stop to eat there. You can feel the passion in his cooking and the dishes are meticulous. The proof was that the room was packed and there was even a second service because there were so many people and it was during the week. You can go there with your eyes closed. Personally I prefer to have a slightly cold service and quality on my plate than the opposite."

"After two weeks in the charente without French restaurant (all was closed for the season) we came over this restaurant while we visited the pretty village of Esse. Only from looking at the building was clear that this was a successful... consciousness and we booked this day in the row. Our broken French had no problem because the staff quickly ensured that we had an English menu and English speakers served us while we were able to practice the language. The food was exceptional and cheap. We had Steak and Dessert. It was the best meal we ever had in France. Unfortunately we came to the end of our holiday or we would eat there regularly. They even open on a Sunday! Tres bee to all. Very recommended."

"I left a five-star rating earlier for this fabulous place, but as soon as they opened, I think it is very much that Mary and Nick have gone from strength to strength in every respect. The ambience is excellent, the service is personal and well maintained while not intrusive. The wide range of spectacular teas and coffee is in the second to none and everywhere is immaculately clean and beautifully artistic, a real pleasure just to be there. But what about the food you ask? Well, I left the best until last, as the food is so good and consistent. Perfectly fresh and fabulously tasty, all house cooked with health in the head, you will not find better. Mary cooks and prepares everything that leaves her kitchen to maintain the strictest quality control. This is our "fortunate place." You can park on the square in Confolens and enjoy the beautiful short walk over the old bridge or you can drive around and find parking by the river or along the road. If you can, this is a popular place loved by French and English locals."

"I was there on Wednesday 21. No presentation of menus... Just a chalk pencil with a basic menu... Very common in the plate... No fungus for the apero, despite our request... Bof, I will not be seen again... (I pass on the tattooed waitress, the little cook with its ring in the nose and without resilting on the head, the table neighbours, English and noisy... the only positive point, the pinard, very good, and very expensive... an entrance map and dishes on a We were 4, we never saw it...So, I didn't know that anti-covid measures did not recommend amuses-gails, so how is it that kitchen staff can work without visible hygiene measures??? We don't know if we have to laugh or weep...As for the "powerfulness of the staff, it participates in the quality perceived by the customer who, I remind you, has paid the addition that allows you to survive..."
