"This restaurant has a cozy pub atmosphere with a few locals standing around the bar. Parking is available at the front and back of the property. The roads leading to the pub are narrow but quiet, making for a pleasant drive. The passageways inside the building are also narrow, with furniture lining one side. Service was a bit slow, even though it wasn't very busy. The starter of cheese soufflé was enjoyable, but the pate was disappointing. The main courses of beef cheek and belly pork had mixed reviews, with the belly pork lacking the expected crispy crackling. The portion sizes were generous for the price. Overall, it was a mixed experience for our group - one diner was happy while the other was disappointed. The restaurant had potential for a 4-star review if the food and service had been better. It was mentioned to the waitress that the crackling was not up to par. Other diners seemed to be enjoying their meals, and the area doesn't have many dining options nearby."

This restaurant is beyond words. My partner had the best steak he has ever had, and the coq au vin was exquisite. The staff were welcoming, friendly, and lovely. We have already booked another meal.

Unbelievable food and even better customer service. Went for the Tomahawk steak. Cooked to absolute perfection. We added the peppercorn sauce and red wine reduction. Very reasonably priced. Peppercorn sauce was to die for. Opted for crème brulé for dessert and I was not disappointed. Staff are brilliant and very friendly. Would definitely recommend if staying in the area

We stayed here for 3 nights bed and breakfast. Where do we start, a warm welcome from mine host Stephen. We dined here each night, the food is simply amazing. Fantastic breakfasts where nothing is too much trouble. A very relaxing location where peacefulness is paramount. All of the staff were so helpful and relaxed. Liz is a bit of an oricle helping everyone have a fabulous stay. We will definitely be back.

Booked Sunday lunch as we were staying nearby and promptly booked again for the Sunday after. What a find. The food was so good the prawn cocktail was good enough to service in a fancy restaurant it was a joy to eat and look at served on an oblong plate it was a picture. The roasts we had lamb and then beef were so tender you could pull them apart and we indulged in an old fashioned banana split. The staff were friendly and seemed happy in their work what a pity we don't live any where near or they would be seeing us once a week!

We were lucky enough to stay here in April. We had a lovely big room with a separate bathroom, lovely and clean. Staff so welcoming upon arrival, showed us to our room, said we were welcome to have a drink in the bar before our meal reservation. Such a friendly and down to earth place. Steak was absolutely gorgeous and the breakfast was the best we’ve ever had. Loved chatting to the chef in the morning and nothing was too much trouble. Can’t wait for our return visit in August and I’m sure this will be our regular place to stay for a lovely weekend away in the future

Was Sunday lunch for three. We had booked ahead and were well met and catered for upon arrival. Initial drinks ordered at the bar prior to moving through to the dining area. Two of us had starters, beautifully fresh prawn cocktails. For mains, two had the picanha of beef rump and one the shoulder of pork. All absolutely perfectly prepared and presented. Two decided upon desserts, rhubarb crumble (yum) and chocolate fudge cake. We tend to travel around the area for Sunday lunch and rarely revisit a place. However, it was a 10 out of 10 for you all, and we’ll be back to share the experience with our family and friends. Thank you again. S.

We stopped at The Crossing twice during our trip around the NC500. It may be a bit out of the way, but it offers great value accommodation for one night and a delicious breakfast. The rooms are simple but clean, and the staff are wonderfully friendly. We also dined at the restaurant on our way back, and I must say the food was excellent. The pub has a cozy atmosphere and feels like a true community hub. If you're looking for a fun night out, the bar with the locals is the place to be. The option to stay in garden pods or chalets is a nice touch, and the location near Hadrian's Wall is convenient. Overall, The Crossing is a great value for money and a fantastic spot to visit.

My wife and I enjoyed the delicious Sunday Lunch which is extremely well price for 1, 2 or all 3 courses we opted for 3 and were extremely well fed. The souffle we had for starter was amazing and well worth waiting for. The choices for the main course were excellent, I opted for beef and my wife decided on the lamb and these were absolutely melt in the mouth delicious. The selection of veg was excellent and the cauliflower cheese was to die for. Although pretty full after the 2 courses we were still tempted by the desserts and we were not disappointed, they were yummy, although my wife would like to suggest an addition to the choices of a good old fashioned sherry trifle. Overall the food wa...

My friend and I stayed on a bed and breakfast basis for 3 nights and also had dinner on each evening. Not only were we very impressed by the food but the wonderful atmosphere surrounding the whole stay was extremely friendly and relaxing. The Crossings Inn is surrounded by beautiful peaceful countryside and if you fancy glamping, they are more than likely completed. Don't be fooled into thinking there is little to do around this area, there are beautiful walks, many different sites of Hadrians' Wall so obviously is very close to the Scottish border. If you want glitz and glamour then this is not for you but if you like a warm, friendly welcome from Stephen the owner and chef and his very hel...
