"Beautiful place and very nice service with friendly staff. We did except more out of the food considering the prices. It was very nicely presented but we had much better dishes before for this price category. Good to keep in mind that the menu’s online are sample menus so it differs from reality. Their cocktail menu online is very special while in reality it was disappointingly basic. Their sticky toffee pudding is absolutely amazing tho! "We made a reservation for the tasting menu and wine pairing at this restaurant. It was a birthday celebration and an intimate dinner for two. We started by having cocktails in the lounge, and mine was one of the best I've had in years - subtle, delicate, and lovely. The service was exceptional, with each dish being introduced and presented beautifully. We ended the meal with coffee and a nightcap in the lounge. I couldn't find any faults at all - this place deserves high praise. The restaurant is located on a peaceful woodland estate with easy access to the A1M and Scotch Corner intersection. While I highly recommend it, I worry it will become too popular to get a table! The ambiance was perfect and it's amazing to have such quality just a short drive away. MLE, please don't change a thing."

"Our dinner experience at this restaurant was supposed to be a highlight of our week away during Christmas, but unfortunately, it did not meet our expectations. The main issue was that upon being seated, we were informed that many menu options were no longer available. In my 40 years of dining out, I have never encountered a list of unavailable options as extensive as this. The excuse given for the limited food availability being because it was Christmas was wholly inappropriate. Despite this disappointment, the rest of the evening was satisfactory, with the food and service being decent. Overall, it was a letdown. I would recommend that the management improve their menu planning and food ordering process for the future."

"We had booked with booking.com . On arrival we were told that we didn't get breakfast included and that it would be £15 a head. We accepted this although thought was pretty steep for breakfast in a pub.The first morning we were given a menu clearly stating that breakfasts were included with all accommodation. I ordered poached eggs with smoked salmon and the other two ordered a full English breakfast which included homemade black pudding. The breakfasts arrived ,one of my poached eggs was runny, the other hard. The English breakfasts had no black pudding on the plates and when queried we were told that the deliveries hadn't arrived. Doesn't homemade imply made on or near the premises and as the owner states he is a butcher by trade I would expect he had made the black pudding. No alternatives were offered and presentation was distinctly lacking , with the baked beans poured over the other items.The next day I risked the full breakfast with black pudding which was lovely. But again the others had badly cooked poached eggs. We were offered no fruit juice, cereal or even toast and marmalade. On leaving we discovered the pub was unmanned , despite poor mobile signal. The owner turned up after 15 minutes. The bill was handed over, charging us for seven breakfasts when we had six, it was adjusted after he asked if one of us had had two breakfast one day? He served and cooked them so should know the answer to that. We were also then overcharged for nine coffee when three coffees and two teas had been ordered. Having had a family B and small hotel in York I advised him that standards were not what I was used to. I spoke to someone who had also visited recently and she stated a member of staff had charged them £15 per head for their similar breakfast where we were charged the menu price. Exceptionally poor menu, inaccurate advise saying breakfast included then charging us and probably the worst breakfast I have eaten in similar accommodation."

"Rooms: We are currently staying in the apartment above the pub and it is beautiful. Tastefully decorated. Everything you need for a few days away. The wifi is not the greatest but that is no way any fault if the establishment, the whole area seems to struggle. This place is a little gem and we are so glad we have found it. Food drinks: We are a party of 10 and the food we ordered was great value and we would highly recommend every dish we chose. The tapas was amazing. Rooms: 5 Service: 5 Location: 5 Hotel highlights: Luxury, Quiet"
