"Went to go for food on a mid week evening, was not greeted by anyone. Found a table and when going to the bar to order, was told “we saw you come in and the table you’re sat at is reserved (there was nothing on the table to show it was reserved)” the condescending tone and approach by the young lad slumped behind the till (not even asking what I’d like to drink) was very off-putting when I was simply taking my mother out for dinner. We both agreed we will not be coming to the pack horse again having been coming here for a number of years. Very much negative impression of the team who clearly have no passion for keeping loyal customers. UPDATE Thank you for your reply Pack Horse Owner, it is clear to me that my review was not read properly as nothing related to what day we visited. Either your staff are behaving differently to you than when in front of customers or you’re oblivious to their behaviours. Also, dining in the conservatory was not offered, in fact the staff member behind the bar (sat on a stool) made no effort to even get up to locate a suitable table. The defensive tone of your reply tells me that you don’t see that anything needs improving despite me not being the only reviewer to point out the lack of customer service for the price point of your products/services. Your reply has made it very clear to me that the staff take the lead from the management in this instance."

Excellent meals (3rd time I have been), staff always polite and very approachable.Meals are not overpriced, the only minor problem is the location but that is part of Pack's charm.

Lovely pub, staff are friendly and attentive. Food seems pricey but get plenty for your buck. Nice cask ales, and massive bonus dog friendly To be warned it does get super busy at times as it's very popular. Visualizza piatti

What a gem of a find. A lovely country pub and beautiful food with stunning views. Gluten free and vegan options available, with quality home cooked food. Very classy but at the same time very relaxed. We will definitely be back, I look forward to sitting outside in the summer. We hadn't booked but I would recommend it, we were dining early and managed to get a table for 3, but it was busy.

This place is well worth the drive. It's up in the beautiful countryside, great atmosphere, great food. I have eaten and drank here several times and it doesn't disappoint. I did however have the cheese and onion pie which had a larger proportion of potato (big pet hate! than I would have liked however the quality was there. Lovely log fires to keep you warm and a selection of real ales which are well kept to keep you hydrated! Add this to your to do list, it won't disappoint!

We stopped in to The Pack Horse with some visiting family without having booked hoping for a table. Whilst the restaurant was fully booked we were sat in a very comfortable part of the bar. Each of our group of 4 had a different starter and main and all were very well cooked, generously portioned and well presented. The service was polite, efficient, attentive without being obtrusive. We have been several times and never disappointed. We hope to return in the summer to eat outdoors and admire the views. Visualizza piatti

I would highly recommend the pack horse , a lovely place with a great menu. Staff were friendly and the food was great. This place has been the best place I've dined out in the past year , the views from the outside are amazing and can imagine that in the summer it would be extremely busy , we booked a table in advance and I'm glad we did as the place was really busy. My dad had the fish and chips and the fish was enormous with loads of crispy batter the ladies both went for the cheese and onion pie and I had the beef and ale pie. The fish looked in my opinion the best dish but unfortunately I didn't get a taste.

Went as a party of fifteen for a 60th birthday meal on Sunday. Starters main was pre-ordered. Soon as I sat down starter's came but I did arrive 15mins late ok. I ordered chilli beef skewers taste was very bland beef was very chewy fatty. Soon as I finished mains came half roast chicken looked like boiled potatoes green beans red cabbage little gravy bit of what looked like stuffing lge yourshire pud. Well the chicken was very overcooked skin was welded very tough dry. Green beans were very tough as just dipped in hot water. Potatoes has no taste. Stuffing was ok but looked processed. Red cabbage was all over the plate not neatly placed. The yorrshire resembled cake. I asked for more gravy d...

"Well, it 's been a while since I 've reviewed a place but this little gem has certainly reawakened my vigour for it. Visited this evening as a kind of belated birthday celebration with my husband and son and very glad we did indeed. We happened upon this place a few weeks back (passing by and grabbing a cocktail after the days plans fell through and instantly took to the place and it 's wonderful staff and from the off had intentions to visit again an so finally did tonight), within seconds of seating ourself at the bar we were remembered by the owners, which to me shows great calibre on the customer service front. As someone with an exceptionally sweet tooth when it comes to alcohol it was our lucky day to find they had cocktails on 2for£10 and hell can the owner Jo mix like a minx (even doing us an off menu blend to account for tastes). The husband not being a big drinker happily sat at the bar chatting with staff and customers nursing his Peroni whilst me and my son dived headlong into the extensive classical and modern mixed cocktail list. Having been lured into great expectations (previously sampling delicious tasters) from Jo 's lovely husband Dave on our first brief visit we were definitely eagerly placed to dive into dinner tonight. Our lovely waitress Sian, stood patiently while we chopped and changed idea 's and orders, laughed with us, checked regularly everything was to our tastes as did the other young waitress that dropped drinks over to us. Both girls portraying the perfect mix of friendly and professional, a refreshing change to be served by people that clearly enjoy their working environment. And on to the food... we started with olives (and boy was it a substantial portion in comparison with some establishments weak efforts), hubby was first in there, impressed with the quality of marinade (too many places these days forget the little efforts like this thinking folk can 't differentiate something tipped out of a supermarket packet). After much debate (I had my eye on far too many dishes) choices were made, Hubby had the Filo Kefta, which had a light pastry, adequate spice and smoothly complimentary dip, for main he went with the day 's Special of Lamb with fondant potato, heritage carrots and a divinely velvety Jus which he thoroughly enjoyed (and he 's hard to please, being well versed himself and making a point of getting the lovely Chef Darren a glass of wine in appreciation). The lad had a Sirloin steak burger cooked medium rare and is now demanding we visit again soon. lol I went with the Gravlax to start, instantly aware of the clean flavour from its curing cutting through (I even brought a titbit home for my kitty to enjoy), as for main, I 'd initially had my mind on fish but upon discovering the owner Jo was also a blue steak lover I had to try one there and wow they really take care in choosing their suppliers because that was an A grade cut of meat, even my son (who prefers medium-rare) upon trying a slice said it was an exceptional piece of meat I had it with asparagus, no sauce and swapped out the chips for a feta/pepper bowl which worked perfectly as did the glass of Shiraz that Jo picked out to compliment it for me. Genuinely I can not pick fault (read through my other reviews I write honestly, pick fault where warranted and compliment where due). Had this lovely little find been in our usual local it would surely become a regular haunt ours for sure. I would 100% recommend this place and extend our gratitude to all the staff for making our entire visit memorable and perfect."

"We were in Bury for a few days visiting family and the weather was beautiful , we live on the Wirral and frequently visit Brasco lounge in Liverpool of the same chain , which we love. We actually visited Racconto lounge 3 times on our visit , first time we had a brunch of bacon and egg muffin , which we really enjoyed (although the bacon was very salty) The next day we came back and had a lounge breakfast , and the following day we brought my husbands mum , and drank cups of tea while resting from shopping . We enjoyed all the meals , and its lovely inside , although we ate on the terrace in the sunshine and we found all the staff very pleasant and friendly . But..... we had 2 things let it down for us . Firstly on each occasion , the service was extremely slow, when we had breakfast , it wasn't very busy , but we waited ages , although our tea was brought out well before the food , meaning we then had no drinks to go with the food . The second problem was , after waiting ages , we had to send the breakfast back as it was really cold , and it seemed like it had been sat waiting , almost as long as we had , the bacon on both the breakfast muffin and the breakfast was really , really salty also. None of this would put us off , as we enjoyed the dining experience overall , but if you are in a rush , i really wouldn't recommend eating here , as the wait was alot longer than expected every time ."
