"I gave a five star review July 2021 and I feel compelled to write another review to challenge the significant number of poor reviews resulting in 3 star rating and at the bottom end of nearly 600 reviewable restaurants I have spent considerable time in most South American countries where our default position was always Peruvian cuisine as we are predominantly pescavores raw and cooked. Firstly yes the dishes are expensive but equally starters are in the range 25 SF and mains 40 SF these prices are the rule rather than exception in moist Swiss restaurants. For example you will pay at least 40SF for filet des perches most restaurants with nothing like the preparation and quality products used here such as courage tuna and octopus. These are imported and quality seafood has become a luxury so you pay for quality. The dishes used traditional Peruvian accompaniments like roasted sweetcorn and different types of sweet potato. I agree the cocktails are expensive but you are in a prime idyllic position with spectacular scenery not withstanding a restaurant with terrace and interior of modern and elegant design. For example if you request a pisco sour there is an art to its preparation and it requires the use of beaten white of egg. This setting is comparable to a rooftop hotel bar or a beach club in South of France you would pay a premium there We have now been six times as it is one of our favourite restaurants and we have never had any problem with service it has been professional engaging and welcoming and surely in this setting you want measured service and not be rushed out the door so you can absorb the atmosphere. On three occasions we brought friends all international travellers who absolutely loved it. With the exception of one dish they have all been of quality flavoursome and beautifully presented and as fish goes fresh as possible for a country with no sea border. I did speak to the manager regards Tiradito tartufa informing that it was too acidic as the brown sauce included not only lemon but balsamic vinegar and it also looked insipid and destroyed the taste of the underlying carpaccio of tuna.I do not consider this a traditional Peruvian dish and strongly recommend it is modified. It was alluded to by another reviewer As for the female customer who wanted to walk through this restaurant interior in a bikini there would be very few places anywhere this would be allowable irrespective if it was empty or not show a little respect for yourself and the restaurant and cover yourself appropriately and remember 'bikini beach ' is just a name as there is no beach in front of the restaurant In spite of all the bad reviews it will remain one of our favourite Lausanne region restaurants"

The mattresses have marks and we are asked to take off our shoes to lie on them, I am dreaming. We spill a glass and the boss refuses to replace it for us. Never seen that, really no business, too bad for them I wanted to have my birthday there, they missed a nice group, I'll never set foot there again. Having a magnificent setting is not enough, you have work to do if you want to make the figure at Nikki Beach in Saint-Tropez. Reputation and respect for the customer are the basis, good luck.

We ate very well. Dim restaurant perfect for an evening meal. The cuisine is Peruvian and there are some fusion dishes with Japanese cuisine. We tasted a ceviche as a starter as well as some chicharones, everything was very tasty and spicy. The dishes are generous and the products are quality. For main course, the traditional lomo saltado cooked as requested, and seafood rice with a delicious sauce. For dessert we couldn't resist sharing a Peruvian dessert -dulce de leche- The service was perfect and we took advantage of the 50% with the fork because it is a fairly expensive restaurant.

Nice South American food with Stunning views Place Just on the shore of lac Leman, plage de vidy. The views and the atmosphere is amazing, specially in summer. Service Very kind service and always willing to help. We got served by a guy called Eduardo that took very well care of us Food We had some tapas: Yuka frita you need to try, the empanadas also very tasty. Won ton were nice and then we had also nachos. Their wine selection is not very large but well selected, cocktails are also nice here. This place is specially nice in summer but is a good place for every time to have a wine, cocktails and also eat. Recommended.

Where to start... The name perhaps: can it be more pretentious than The Place 2B ? Then cleanliness: the chairs covered when we arrived with crumbs and other remains of food, the dirty window frames and floor... Honestly not great... The food is quite good: the dishes are original, careful and well prepared, but overall lack finesse. The sauces are thick and suffer from a recurring lack of acidity. Finally, what to think of the Cerberus who walks 100 steps among the employees, scrutinizing the customers. Uncomfortable guaranteed. The service was very correct, polite and friendly. Finally, the prices are slightly overpriced. This restaurant has enormous potential, unfortunately poorly exploit...

Lovely location! Peruvian food is a rarity, so we were very excited to try it. The prices seemed a little steep, but it's Lausanne right by the water so it's to be expected. Food presentation was excellent, the wine menu and the cocktails were extensive and fabulous. There was only one dish that was vegetarian, but since fish is the main staple, this wasn't surprising. They offer different kinds of ceviche and fish dishes. The manioc fries were highly interesting and tasty. We didn't get dessert because we had waited a long time for our order, so opted for a night cap instead. I'm giving four of five stars for a few reasons. First, was we had asked for a second serving of fries...and ended u...

I feel compelled to write a review having just had lunch there two hours ago.I would like to think I can speak objectively and critically on the basis of 470 contributions to trip advisor incl 270 cities It is apparent from the reviews that all the one and two star reviews complain about the service more the slowness than the staff themselves. These reviews give little mention to the food which is odd. Why would service be the dominating theme here.It may be related to the modern society we live in today time restrained impatient and inability to enjoy what a stunning restaurant this is in location and atmosphere and absorb this. If the food is substandard then of course the service comes int...

"Au Charbon is family managed restaurant, set in a pleasant and quiet part of Lausanne, easily reached on the bus, if like me, you are touring. The restaurant is ‘cosy’ and the owners have maximised the number of seats available, which sounds like me...spinning a cramped venue but it actually works out okay. We had sufficient room to relax and eat without imposing on our neighbouring tables, so the efficient spacing added to the atmosphere and the wine waiter added character. The restaurant has a traditional pizzeria menu with no surprises with the choice of pizza, steaks etc. All our choices were well presented, cooked exactly to request and delicious. Portion sizes were just right too On the down side, the table service was very slow, it took around an hour for the first course and one dish was wrong when it eventually arrived but we put that down to being busy. The lady serving was also a bit too presumptuous that the change from the bill would be her tip and she didn’t return the change, eventually coming back to confirm if this was so. In summary, I enjoyed my meal and time at Au Charbon, they seem to have earned their reputation from being consistent in serving nicely presented dishes that are cooked well. The higher end options are a bit on the pricey side if you are on holiday, especially when considering this is a pizzeria (a steak costing CHF). However most restaurants of this type in Lausanne are similarly priced and it is what it is."
