"We decided to try the Pleuchie Howff for an evening meal when looking for somewhere to eat when out all day at the local gala. Long day and couldn't be bothered to cook kinda thing. The decor inside is very nice and the staff extremely pleasant. There is a very good choice on the menu and it did take a little time for us to decide what to go for. I opted for the spare ribs to start, my wife ordered the garlic mushrooms in a crispy batter and my daughters ordered the Nachos between them. The size of my starter was equivalent to what I would expect for a main course. It was huge and my wife's and daughters portions were also very large. The service was quick, although it wasn't terrifically busy, but we were eating quite early. The main courses again were a decent size and loved the home cooked beef chips. Very chunky but so soft inside. My steak was cooked perfectly (medium rare) but it did have a little too much fat, but it didn't spoil my meal and it was tasty. My wife and youngest daughter had fish and chips and it was a good size fish. Eldest daughter had chicken stuffed with haggis and again was a really good portion. We couldn't finish the main course. The prices are reasonable and all in all very good value for money. I would not hesitate to return or recommend to anyone."

We stopped here for some food whilst on our way into town. The food was amazing! The restaurant area was very nicely decorated and the staff were very friendly.

Liked the outside beer garden as the weather was great but didn't like the fact that empty glasses were left lying about for ages but the staff were friendly enough

We visited on a quiet Monday and decided to let the chef choose our meal. It was a delightful experience! We were presented with a delicious selection of specially prepared dishes, cooked to perfection. Paired with some excellent draft beers, our meal was not only delicious but also reasonably priced. We were very grateful for the wonderful service. Visualizza piatti

We stayed here for the night and received a lovely welcome. Breakfast was delicious, and Heather was a star. Staffing problems meant she was left on her own which could have been chaos but by keeping us informed and her friendly efficient service made all the difference. Would perhaps not have given such a good rating had all the stops not been put out in which was obviously a difficult situation.

Absolutely amazing night! Heather and her family couldn't have done more to help. The buffet was the best I have seen with fresh salmon, cold cuts, chicken salad, olives, a variety of sandwich joints, samosas, cheese sauces, whatever you want was there. They also cater to food allergies. Great staff, can't fault them, will definitely be back in the future. Thanks again for making my dad's party easy.

Bright and modern decor and immediately made to feel welcome gave me confidence. I asked if the fish stew was 'on ' and was pleased to hear it was. Menu stated that all dishes are cooked from scratch with fresh produce and there 's quite a big menu at very reasonable prices, so I was a little skeptical. I 've eaten bouillabaisse many times in France and enjoyed fish stews throughout Europe, and I can state without hesitation that this was the tastiest (spicy with white wine and tomatoes) I 've ever had. I 'll certainly be back next time for the Shetland mussels. Visualizza piatti

My family and I wanted a stress-free day. After a bit of research, we reserved a table at Howff Pleuchies, who were offering a 5-course set menu for £35. Before the event, I visited the restaurant to pick up a menu. The owner was very helpful and said that if there was anything we needed (a thicker sauce or smaller portion, for example) to let them know and they would do their best to accommodate. The dinner was at 3:30 on Christmas Day. We were warmly welcomed and taken to our table where we enjoyed a glass of mulled wine. I found the soup course to be perfect, but each subsequent dish quickly became my new favorite. The food was fabulous. The service was attentive and professional. The own...

"Visiting Port Patrick again today we thought we would try a new place to eat. We normally eat at the same place here but today with chose the Crown Hotel. When you walk into the crown you see how old it is and I must admit it looks quant but a little dated. After finding a seat and deciding what to eat I went to the bar to order food and drinks. The service from the member of staff were pleasant and welcoming. We ordered 2 cokes and 2 stake and ale in a pudding one with chips and one with baby potatoes. We were charged a few pence short of £39 and given 2 cans of coke and asked would we like a glass with them? £4.80 for 2 cans of coke) Going back to the table I sat down and within less than 5 minutes our food was there on our table. I always worry when the food is so quick as I never feel it properly prepared fresh for you and when you are paying £17 a meal you at least want something fresh-ish. WHAT REALLY ANNOYED ME was while we were eating our food people were bringing dogs into the bar past our table to talk to a guy sat next to us. Chatting away these dogs were just sat by our feet as we ate. No one seemed to care about these dogs brushing up against people eating a meal. The food The baby potatoes were ok, the pudding was a frozen one you would get from a supermarket, the veg was hard, the meat was dry and bland and the gravy tasteless. I would say this food was a preprepared meal and just placed into a microwave. I don’t like to be so blunt in my reviews as this is always someone’s business and livelihood was are talking about, but this really was that bad. The service during the meal was none existent. When the waitress came to take our plates she did not seem surprised when I complained about our food, saying only I’ll pass it on. No apologies or anything. Even with me saying the food was especially the veg was disgusting. It was like water off a ducks back. Will I eat here again NO sadly the service and the food was very poor."

"For some reason I can not reply to your answer. Sadly you are absolutely wrong in everything you have stated, I find your tactic of attacking people who give less than 5 star reviews. I am not going to try to defend myself, as I stand by everything I said. I have made an appointment to see a solicitor about your untruthful comments. I would really of liked to put a good review up, however, I would not recommend this hovel to my worst enemy. Firstly the room was so small, and tatty, extremely dated with an alarm clock, which surely has been taken from a chalet from Pontins in the 1970s, that even the amazing view could not compensate. There was dog meat/food on the carpet, and I assume ash. When I went to look for someone to let them know, there was no one about. The bathroom was not fit for purpose, one as it was a converted cupboard, and the notice in the room explaining that the steam from the shower which was cracked set off the sensitive smoke alarm, so you could not even have a shower. Then when we went for breakfast, after waiting for 40 minutes for a breakfast which was a 1 sausage, a piece of streaky bacon, uncooked tomatoes and mushrooms, haggis, b pudding and beans. When I went to complain about this on the way out, I had the pleasure of speaking to someone called Donna, who was at best obnoxious, and as unhelpful as it was someone else 's fault, I quote I don 't clean the rooms, I don 't cook the breakfast . I would rather sleep in a tent than give money to this place, please look elsewhere, unless you want to feel as though you are being ripped off. In response to your reply I thankyou for it. I do not deny that I was irate, and if she cried, I feel terrible about that but I have also left things out, like the denial of the previous evenings attempt with the same lady about the state of the room, however I stand by everything I said, As you are true to form, as it never ever seems to be your fault, if you look at the previous low reviews, it is always someone else 's fault. Oh by the way breakfast took 40 minutes, and as you were not there, maybe you can check CCTV and see that the uncooked food was left, as was the haggis, however the toast provided was superb. I applaud your defense of your staff, I truly do. Hopefully you can maybe if you get another less than favourable review, see that it is the same points over and over again, and try to address them points, just a thought. Thanks again for your reply below, and I stand by everything I said, and truly can 't be bothered dissecting your reply, one slight point, I have witnesses about the night before, so I take with a pinch of salt, your comments"

"Myself and my partner where just outside of portpatrick yesterday and wondered about somewhere to have lunch, it was about 12.30pm on a scorching hot Bank holiday Sunday. We hadn’t actually planned to go there to start with but thought why not. I saw on Facebook Connors Restaurant had just uploaded a Facebook post about stopping there for a choice of 2 lovely menus and a cheeky gin, sounded perfect! The post had went up about 15 mins before we arrived, so I assumed they must be looking to take some tables. I walked down and there where 2 tables taken outside, and 1 table inside. I asked if I could get a table for 2 outside if possible and I was told no they had been reserved and I thought okay but before I could even open my mouth again she said all tables inside where also reserved that they where fully booked. There was 1 table inside, other wise it was pretty empty. Ok no problem, we found somewhere else so no big deal, after about 2 hours spent having food and wondering around we went back to the car (parked just up from Connors restaurant) and I noticed again there was only the 1 table outside, and no one at the others. I’m maybe wrong but I felt like this was odd, the inside didn’t look like it was “fully booked” either. It actually looked a little dead compared to everywhere else. This has also happened to my friends a couple of times too they’ve went in and the place has been stone dead but got turned away because of the excuse of being fully booked. Just felt like it was not quite right. Sorry I never usually write reviews but felt like I had to get my point across on this one. We would love to dine here and hopefully will in the future."
