"In Dover for a Day trip from France a first time and a novelty already. After a quick search for suitable lunch spots on a wet, miserable Wednesday in March, i booked for 2 covers here. Easy parking added to the positive first impressions as did the entrance and welcome in the restaurant, a little before 1 o'clock. The sun was out and we were shown to a window table overlooking the beach and harbour. We were pleased with the menu choice and the daily choices and chose whitebait, scallops under a Parmesan potato whip, then the recommended Fish Chips, followed by a pudding each. Overall the food was hot, well presented and served promptly by charming staff. I must also mention the pleasure of finding a properly folded linen napkin; a rarity these days! The meal arrangement we chose included a bottle of House white, a light, very drinkable Spanish Sauvignon blanc. I found the choice of wines quite extensive but also rather expensive. Our only comment was that the battered cod, although copious and as far as i could tell fresh, was actually rather tasteless. Possibly some seasoning on the fish or in the batter might have improved the taste on the plate. A pleasant meal experience greatly adding to an enjoyable day trip from Normandy. Thanks"

"We just moved to the area and had a couple of nice evening meals so booked to bring my daughter who had just had a baby for lunch. The price was the same as the evening and the food was terrible, my daughter always has spaghetti Bolognese as she says its best in an Italian restaurant. She gave me a bit to taste and it seemed like it had been cooked several times before. The pesto pasta with pine nuts I had was tasteless and no nice toasted pine nuts on top, in fact I couldn’t see any at all, it was very disappointing after I had told my daughter and partner how good it was. They had made an effort with decorating the table and the people are lovely but I think I probably won’t go back."

"Stop by this great place to grab breakfast in Dover! The food was affordable and tasty. The all-day breakfast selection is varied, with vegetarian options as well as the ability to order a sandwich or a full breakfast. The waitstaff and chef are very friendly and quick to chat if you're in the mood. The restaurant is decorated in lots of Charlie Chaplin paraphernalia and memorabilia, from figurines to pictures to a hate cane combo. Location-wise, it is walkable to most sights in Dover and the train (10 min. walk)."

"Sixteen of us dined here for my father's birthday, as we have all eaten here separately in the past. This restaurant consistently impresses and, in my opinion, is the best restaurant in Dover. The service was courteous and prompt, with all of our meals delivered quickly and hot. Absolutely fantastic. Thank you for another lovely evening."

"3 of my friends ordered the same thing. Mixed meat grill. Presented nicely, but unfortunately that's where it all went wrong. We all had the same issue. I spoke out. I asked if the sausage was ment to be pink? Was assured it was. We...was not particularly happy. I cut into my lamb. It was raw. When I passed comment to the chef and owner, he came out and said it was fine, then to prove it he ate the sausage from my plate, and asked if I was qualified to eat' I kid you not the chef said and did this! I was a little perplexed by this show, as I had not seen that before..... he said it was pink because it was homemade. Pink pork? I am a little sceptical.....They then hurried us out of the door by presenting the bill a few minutes later. Not a particularly pleasant experience. I would be mindful if anyone dared to pass a negative comment to the chef, as he came across particularly aggressive, and was defended by the Soux chef, who actually cooked' it. I only put 1 star, as 0 is not an option...."
