"Me and a friend went there today 13 June it was my 60th birthday my friend was treating me. I ordered a Mixed Grill priced at £22 and he ordered Surf Turf at £17 the service was ok but the food was disgusting everything was very over done even the steak which was meant to be medium rare and medium, and full of gristle the chips were the worst I have ever had and the half a pound of peas were like bullets. All the of 3 lots of customers also complained that their food was over done and simply not edible. The female member of staff who served us was very nice but I felt sorry for her for taking the flack because no manager was present. I was more disappointed because I have eaten there in the past and the food was ok but this time it was dreadful. They need to find a Chef that can cook and a manager who can manage because sadly I shall not be eating there again. The best part was leaving the pub and going elsewhere. I really do hope that other customers don't experience the poor food and the Royal Oak improves."

We have been going here weekly for past few weeks, it really is the best food. I can honestly say every meal we have tried is perfect. Be warned the meals are huge. The staff are friendly and helpful. We will certainly be back soon.

The staff were extremely accommodating and attentive. The food was delicious and well worth the price! Despite our large party of 27, they took excellent care of us, even providing extra chips and onion rings. The portions were very generous. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant.

We popped in randomly for food, it was not too busy and the staff were great. The carvery was really tasty and was a decent temperature, the chef was chatty polite the meat portions were great and a nice selection of vegetables. We would come back again and would recommend this pub to others. Visualizza piatti

Stopped here today on the off chance. We are not local, and were on route home after a trip away . Really lovely carvery , excellent choice of vegetables and meats . I'm very fussy with roast potatoes and these were perfect tasted fresh out of the oven. We left there very full , would highly recommend. We travel that way often. So will no doubt go back soon . Great carvery , great price .

I went for a late lunch and decided to order from the 2 for 1 menu instead of trying the carvery, and I'm so glad I did! Both of us got steaks and they were absolutely delicious with a generous portion size. The drinks were affordable and our server John was very kind and attentive. I will definitely be coming back more often! There is a lot of parking available, the restaurant is dog-friendly, and there are lovely outdoor seating areas.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."

"Open since 1970 and located on Mardol, one of Shrewsbury’s oldest streets @thecurryhouseshrewsbury serves locally sourced ingredients married with traditional spices and chillies from the Indian subcontinent, a match made in heaven. 5 5 Recommended Price No better way to kick off proceedings but with popadoms, chutneys and fresh onion salad. On to appetisers and there are so many tempting dishes to choose with many of these exclusive to the curry house. Our first time trying Pani Puri. A sweet and spicy hot street food snack filled with chickpeas and tamarind sat on a bed of crunchy, nutty Bombay mix. With a building but pleasant heat, definitely something everyone should try. The quality and freshness of the seafood was exceptional. Spicy king prawns were huge and cooked to perfection. Charred on the outside for flavour but juicy and meaty. Trio of King scallops were beautifully tender and of a good size with sweetness from the tamarind liquor. Lamb rogan Josh tender lamb shoulder in a medium hot ginger tomato and onion sauce. A strong take on a traditional favourite of ours. Fresh from the Tandoor a generous mix of marinaded chicken, lamb, king prawns and a chargrilled lamb chop. The Tandoori deluxe massalla sauce was the perfect blend of sweetness melting into a subtle heat which brought the dish together perfectly. The curry house takes traditional dishes and flavours from the Indian subcontinent and elevates them to a level beyond expectations. Thank you for our invite to share the exciting menu created with passion and creativity.
