"My family took my 88-year-old father out for lunch and decided to try a new restaurant. We arrived at The Ship at 12.30pm and were greeted by a friendly woman behind the bar who took our drink order and, 10 minutes later, our food order. The restaurant was not very busy, but 20 minutes after ordering, all customers were informed of a delay in food preparation as there was only one person working in the kitchen. Strangely, some customers who ordered after us were served their food before us (possibly pre-made meals?). At 1.35pm, 55 minutes after ordering and still no sight of our meals, we decided to pay for our drinks and leave. The woman behind the bar apologized profusely. Just as we were about to depart, the chef angrily emerged from the kitchen, insisting that our food was on its way. He then proceeded to loudly berate us, claiming that we had only waited 40 minutes. We had just ordered simple pub dishes like gammon, scampi, and fish cakes, so maybe time management is not his strong suit. We will not be returning anytime soon and cannot review the food as it never arrived."

Delicious rare roast beef; the rest is just ok. Suggestion: use warm plates; the meat was cold by the time it got to table cos the plates were cold!

Always a friendly and warm welcome at The Ship Inn. Absolutely love their chicken supreme, the food is homemade with a good selection of choice and is always hot and fresh. Highly recommend and there is a good size car park too,

what a wonderful surprise at the end of our hike! the ship inns Sundays was certainly worth a 6 miles walk. the food was like home (only better the bark was cooked nicely, with yorkshire pudding and a series of vegetables...and fry. also the brath chicken received good reviews. service was friendly and helpful, many thanks for a great meal.

My wife and I brought my parents to this restaurant for Sunday lunch to celebrate Father's Day. From the moment we walked in, we felt welcomed. The Sunday lunch menu was great and the food was delicious. I highly recommend the 'nutless roast' as a tasty vegetarian option, and the roast potatoes were amazing. The chocolate brownie was a generous size and oozing with rich chocolate. We found it to be very good value as well. The restaurant has a warm, cozy atmosphere and we are happy to have it as our local spot.

I often travel here for an evening meal, today I took the plunge and tried the pie of the day , which as it happened was chicken and bacon. The pies are made by the owner, a Romanian fellow with a name I can not pronounce, much less spell. But the pastry! OMG this is the finest pie pastry I have ever tasted. I 'm no expert, but I 'm guessing he uses flaky pastry for the pies, rather than the usual shortcrust or puff top. We do have to educate him however about gravy. You don 't serve beef gravy with a chicken pie! Not in England, anyway!

I was pleasantly surprised by the generous portion size of the Sunday roast we enjoyed today. The vegetables were beautifully presented and delicious, especially the sweet roasted carrots and roast potatoes – they were phenomenal. I couldn't bring myself to share my lamb because it was just too good. We had a good experience in the garden last time, but I highly recommend sitting inside upstairs for the character. The service was efficient and friendly, with no pressure to order more. The food speaks for itself. Treat yourself and make the trip – I suggest going for a long walk afterwards. I highly recommend this restaurant and commend the kitchen and front of house staff. I will definitely...
