"How disappointing Arrived at 12:21 seated in the rear area, drinks order taken, short wait and drinks (2 zesty cola type) waitress said she'd return in 5 minutes to take meal order and hand us 2 menus, at 12:50 (20+ minutes)I had to remind her to take the order, ok sat back and drunk my zesty drink as I'm diabetic and my glucose levels were fairly low and edging towards hypoglycemia levels (original coke is full of wonderful sugars),13:26 again called waitress over to ask about our meals, scampi for missus , surf turf for myself, and that we had been waiting for 35 minutes already, she went to check in the kitchen, returning 10 minutes later without explanation to inform us the meals would be at least another 30 minutes. I'm extremely disappointed with the attitude there,if they were so busy (they weren't, I counted 11 tables inside and out where the customers were either waiting, drinking or already with meals) the very least they could do is warn customers of serious time delays in the kitchen. What suprised us the most was the waitress wasn't even shocked when I cancelled the order and asked for the bill for just the 2 zesty drinks. Shame on management for running such a service shame on ownership for employing such inept staff"

Lovely carvery all cooked well, and tasted wonderful. I had a flat white coffee and partner had a small beer. A very very busy place on a Sunday.

Great pub we enjoyed the tasty food and cask ales. We were a party of seven five adults and two young children, and we were very well catered for the staff went above and beyond. Would go back.

Brilliant little pub. Great service and quick with the food too. Portion sizes were huge. I had the steak and ale pie with veg and chips and oh my days I'll be back for it again in the future! Thank you!

Excellent food and location, specifically recommend the steak and ale pie, full of decent meat. Friendly staff, decent prices, a steam train puffing away nearby and the River Severn a stones throw away, what more could you ask for? Oh, by the way, dog friendly as well!

Went today for Sunday lunch. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. Joe waited on our table and went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed. Stellar service. So a huge thank you to him. Will definitely be back as the atmosphere and views are superb.

Visited for a carvery again today, and service was impeccable. Thank you to Joe for making sure we didn't need to leave our table for anything. We also saw him helping other guests by delivering Yorkshire puddings to their table when they wouldn't fit on their plates even though the place was packed. The food was excellent, shame the cocktail machine was down and that they don't offer real coffee but a great Sunday out.

"Beautifull hotel, I guess one can call it trendy , but I just don 't understand how they can justify the price £130/night and that most of the time will go to £160 as they run out of entry level ones. So I guess the answer is there because people pay for it! But let 's just make some relevant comparisons Birmingham Grand literally in the heart of the city, brand new, 5* hotel, with all recently decorated rooms to the highest standard is £135 15 for breakfast. Needless to say rooms are air conditioned, fully equipped and genuinelly very posh. Hotel has lifts, has porters and the service is top notch. The Lion is barelly 4* just for trendiness alone, but the actual quality of furnishing is closer to 3*, has no lift and you will be lugging your bags up and down mutiple flights of stairs (and I mean multiple like 8 going up and down) trought narrow corridors to mediocre room (nothing wrong with it just mediocre) which isn 't even air conditioned. Sorry, I just don 't get it. That said restaurant is good fully fine dining if you are into it. Althought in my oppinion it doesn 't fit into the rest of the hotel. So it is ~3.5* hotel which is very youghtfull and trendy and then you get 5* fine dining with very tiny portions for the dinner (which is not criticism of restaurant, it is very good on it 's own). In conclussion I just don 't get what niche this hotel is filling, who stays there and why. The price for the rooms should be £75 95 tops. Shreesbury is not exactly prime tourists destination either (at least shouldn 't). But it seems it is working out for them, I just would not recommend it, I would not stay in it again and it is definatelly not worth the price. Neither in isolation, nor in comparison."
