The dishes were very well executed and service traditionally formal. Large portion sizes for all dishes ordered, making three courses perhaps a little much in terms of quantity. "We had a lovely dining experience at this restaurant last night to celebrate our anniversary. The traditional service was top-quality, and we were warmly greeted upon arrival. The dining room was small and cozy, with tables spaced out nicely. The three-course meal for £60 per person was great value. The scallops and halibut were cooked to perfection, and the homemade mini loaves were a delicious touch. My husband enjoyed the chicken pate and guinea fowl and pheasant dishes. The side vegetables were also delicious. We took a break before dessert, which was a rare treat for us, but we enjoyed every bite. The locally sourced champagne paired well with the lemon curd and meringue, as well as the ginger sponge and root cream. We left feeling full and happy, and are already looking forward to returning. Thank you for a memorable celebration with excellent attention to detail, service, and friendliness."

"We were a midweek lunch party of 4 retirerees. Usually lunch at Crown and Sandys or Kings Arms Ombersley but fancied a change. Very disappointed indeed. Basically poor choice, small portions, long wait and no atmosphere. This huge place is beautifully appointed but there was absolutely no atmosphere on arrival and only 2 other diners on this occasion. No welcome whatsoever from the staff. We chose our table and eventually our food from the limited menu. I was told my choice which was a risotto was not available so went for next best choice which was lamb. In fact 3 of us went for the lamb and one had cod and chips. The food took an hour to appear at the table!! It was nice but nothing special. The lamb was nicely cooked but the vegetables were a joke! 4 tiny cubes of potato. 3 chunks of carrot and a tablespoon of beetroot purée plus another desert spoon of gravy jus. To make a meal you will need to order vegetables and potatoes as a side too making it a fairly expensive meal. We couldn't get out of there fast enough and decided to move on to Lord Mortons for coffee and desert. What a good choice. And what a lovely welcome from the man himself. We're going there for lunch too next time."

"We decided to drop in for a last-minute Sunday lunch and were pleasantly surprised by the efficient and friendly service. The staff quickly cleaned and set a table for us, and we were delighted by the delicious sea bass tagliatelle with crab. The entire team worked smoothly together, providing excellent food and service. Overall, we give the food and drinks an excellent rating, the service a 5, and the location a 5."

"Stayed here for a few days to visit the Cotswolds villages and relax by the river. Our room was spacious, spotlessly clean and comfortable...had everything we needed. The bathroom...although a little ‘tired’...was spacious and functional, especially Important when 2 women are sharing...plenty of shelving for all our ‘stuff’. Our room (no 9) had a balcony with table and chairs which overlooked the River Severn. Fabulous view to wake up to each morning and great to sit with a cuppa to watch the boats go by, bliss. We ate each evening in the restaurant, great choice, spacious room, tasty food and excellent service. There are a couple of pubs nearby (we thought we would make use of them if the food wasn’t up to much) but we did not need to, the food was delicious. We also made use of the onsite pub and enjoyed a few cocktails. We would highly recommend this super place...fabulous location, efficient friendly staff and a great price."
