"Located within a few minutes walking distance of the Air Space Museum, the Taphouse is small local bar and eatery with a casual vibe and good food and drinks. Located on a small side street with a few other bar/restaurants, this bar has a college dive bar type feel, but the food and beer selection is anything but that. Happy hour every day ? 4-6, with local Virginia pours only being $3, including a lot of the higher alcohol beers. Wide variety of drafts and bottles. Food selection seems simple and pretty standard for a bar of this type, but the quality is much higher than your typical bar wings and burgers. We tried the crab dip, cheese burger, turkey ham club and fresh tuna gyro. Also have a daily list of specials. There is another seating area upstairs, complete with stage for live music. We brought our kids 11YO 4YO in here for dinner at 4pm after visiting the Air Space museum, but might not be the best place for kids later in the night or on weekends. Would definitely come back here again.Another great Yelp find."

I ordered the Salmon and asked for a medium rare fillet. To my delight the meal was fantastic. The salmon was cooked to perfection the vegetables were crispy and delicious. I 'm hoping the rest of the menu is just as good as what I ordered. If it is, this place is a definite must go to if you 're ever in Hampton.

Stopped by for lunch and glad we did. We had the crab dip for starters not too rich, and not too cheesy just right. I got the Taphouse Club sandwich very generous sized sandwich (triple tiered! and a big serving of fries, which were done to perfection. My other half got the tuna sandwich special... it's safe to say we both enjoyed the food so much as I didn't get a chance to snap any pics! It's a bit pricier than other spots in the area, but seems worth it. Our server today was lovely too, very sweet guy. We've had drinks here in the evening too, great vibe and the girls really look after you. Good choice of beer too!

I also tried the incredible Dragon's Milk, a bourbon barrel-aged stout that tastes just like a chocolate candy bar. It's one of my go-to beverages! I noticed some reviews mentioning poor treatment of minorities, but we didn’t experience that at all (and I'm pretty sure we were black the whole time we were there, lol). The service was great; our waiter was friendly and patient, going so far as to chat with my mom about an old menu item she was hoping to find, even though it’s no longer available. All in all, my mom is definitely cooler than yours for picking this spot, and it’s a must-visit if you're in or around Hampton!

This is my first time back in the Hampton Taphouse in quite a while. Just over a year I guess. We stopped in here after attending the Mariners' Craft Beer Festival today. I had a hankering for a Purple Haze, unfortunately they no longer carry my cherished beverage. I settled for a Snake Bite and took a look at the menu. I ended up ordering a the Smokehouse Burger for lunch, which is a bacon cheeseburger with house BBQ Mayo. The burger was ok, it hit the spot, however it was a bit overcooked and dry. The BBQ mayo was there, but I couldn't taste the BBQ. The fries were just generic fries, nothing to write home about. They definitely weren't as warm as by burger. All in all, minor complaints, g...

This place is so amazing that I felt compelled to write an updated review. I first started visiting Taphouse to relax after work on Mondays. I know the weekend just ended, but who actually enjoys Mondays? Pint night was what drew me in, but it’s the food that keeps me coming back. About four months ago, a server named Jules urged my friend and me to try one of the specials, and ever since then, I've been ordering a special every Monday at Taphouse. Whoever their chef is deserves a raise! Taphouse truly has the best bar food in all of Hampton, and I stand by that! When friends ask where to eat in my area, I suggest three places (I like to offer options): Venture, Smoke, and Taphouse—and I abs...

Wow this place has great food! Bf and I came here on a Wednesday before Xmas to grab some drinks and apps. Live music started at 9 in the upstairs portion of the restaurant but there was a $10 cover to get upstairs. We could hear the music perfectly from our booth downstairs lol. Onto the food... I ordered the potstickers and the crab dip with pita bread. Omg. Potstickers were to die for and the crab dip was so fresh. Even had jalapeño peppers in it! It was delicious. Bf got spicy meatballs, basket of fries and chicken tenders. He absolutely loved the meatballs and chicken tenders saying it was some of the best he's had. The fries were just OK. Nothing special, kinda droopy lol. Service was...

Yo!! The food here was so good I had to write this review ASAP so i wouldnt forget. I've been here once before but only came for the beers. I was too lazy to cook last night and it was rainy but yelp led me right here. I grabbed a seat at the bar and ordered some beer I've never heard of because I'm cool like that lol. The bartender handed me the menu and the Bleu Burger caught my eyes so I ordered that with fries (burgers come with chips but there's a $1 upcharge for fries or ceasar salad). I was excited after I stepped away to use the restroom and came back to my plate waiting for me! It looked soooo good! I started off with the fries and these fries were fire!! Like.. I've never tasted fr...

My friends and I are in Hampton for a wedding and wanted to have brunch before we departed ways to go back to our hometowns. I called ahead to ask how long was a wait for 7. The woman that answered the phone told us there was currently no wait. As soon as we walked in a CUSTOMER told us Girls you have to get here earlier if you want a table for 7 . Clearly trying to discourage us from eating there. The hostess then came up to us and told us There isn 't anywhere for you all to sit . Instead of asking us would we like to wait or giving us an estimated wait time she also dismissed us. It is definitely my concern that we, as young black women, were not welcome in this establishment. People were...

The Taphouse, one of the oldest buildings in Hampton, exudes a charming old-world ambiance reminiscent of the days of sailors and schooners. It quickly became clear that we had stumbled upon a local hotspot, which is exactly what I was hoping for on a rainy afternoon. Our bartender Crystal, a laid-back woman with dreadlocks, was incredibly friendly and made us feel right at home. She recommended the perfect sandwich—a gigantic club—that satisfied all my culinary cravings. This mouthwatering sandwich was piled high with ham, turkey, bacon, and cheese, truly embodying the essence of a Dagwood Bumpstead sandwich (if you’re unfamiliar with Dagwood, let’s just say he loved his oversized sandwiche...

"Obon: a petit Japanese udon restaurant that supplies a sense of Japan that cannot be found anywhere else in the whole of the Uk. (5 stars) Location: Obon is located close to the heart of Kingston but the road it’s on is considerably quieter. You must make sure to have a basic knowledge of Kingston in order to find an area to park and to also make sure you leave yourself enough time, taking the unpredictability of the traffic into acount. Even on a week day there can be traffic jams which can put a halt to your plans and due to the small amount of customers Obon can take its important that you not only book but make sure that you arrive at the agreed booking time. With this being said the staff are all lovely so if you are running late, a quick call is all that is required to just give Obon a chance to understand your position. The food: The array of exquisitely prepared sashimi will be sure to create the sensation that you are in a top Japanese restaurant in japan and the flavour of the fish does not fail to match expectations, which will be very high after just one glance at your meal. The fish is delicately seasoned and practically melts on your tongue, this causes a lovely sensation and is genuinely the finest sushi I have tasted in the uk and even matches a lot of the top restaurants in japan. On top of just the traditional types of sushi, which to many is maki rolls Obon also offers many other delicious options such as soft shell crab and even Unagi don, which I must highly recommend due to it consistently being the highlight of my meal. For those of you that were interested in the quality of the basic Japanese dishes such as miso soup or edamame they do not fail to leave you in grand anticipation for what is to come for they are, simply speaking, incredibly good. The miso, in my opinion, is truly remarkable and creates a lasting feeling of warmth throughout your entire body, on top of that it is far superior to other miso’s that I have tasted in all other areas of the world. Overall the quality of the food is something you would expect from a world famous Michelin star restaurant and if you want Japanese food it’s the only place I can recommend. The Restaurant: The restaurant itself is small but authentic in nature and because it only has a enough tables to host around 20 people at the most, the service is exceptionally good and your food is always out quickly so you will not be left hungry for very long. The staff are kind and friendly. And it’s always an enjoyable experience being waves goodbye as you leave the restaurant. You’re also able to watch as they prepare the food, which for some could be entertaining. There are Japanese photos scattered around the room and this further creates an authentic feel. The atmosphere is not lively but it is a restaurant and not a bar so is an ideal location if you are wanting high quality food. With this being said it is still a great place to go with friends and I consistently am able to have a great time no matter the occasion. Price: Obviously, the price of the food is always an important topic to come to and despite the cost of the sushi being slightly higher than you may expect from a small restaurant in Kingston, I would have to say that for the quality of the food it is ultimately a bargain. For three people, you would be spending around £100 so it isn’t cheap but you can go for cheaper types of food such as udon, which is still amazing quality and won’t set you back as much money. Overall: Obon is still my favourite restaurant in the whole of the Uk and is perfect for a special occasion but it isn’t the sort of place you’d go for a casual night out. The food is beyond incredible and thus they can cater for both children and adults by meeting every bodies needs. For anybody that enjoys sushi, I would urge you to give it a go, you won’t regret it"
